Abstract

An electrical cable gland (1) is provided comprising a body and an armour clamp assembly consisting of an armour clamping cone (4) associated with a first body part (2) and a cooperating armour clamping ring (5) associated with a second body part (3) which forms an outer cover to the clamping ring. In order to avoid loose parts, but nevertheless to allow for inspection of the armour clamp, the clamping ring is held releasably or temporarily captive relative to the second body part at least prior to installation of the gland whilst permitting separation of said second body part from the clamping ring in an installed position. Preferably, the clamping cone is also held releasably captive relative to the first body part so that a two sub-assembly construction is provided for easy and secure installation. An optional enhanced gripping surface (24) is also provided for the conical clamping surfaces.
