Abstract

A fluent material applicator, such as for applying grout, comprises a threaded rod 1 which extends through a treaded hole in a backplate of a container cage 4 and locates into a collar on a pressure plate 2. In use, a container 3 of material is loaded into the cage 4, and a handle on the threaded rod 1 is turned, causing the pressure plate 2 to be moved through the container 3 and material to be forced out through a nozzle B.

Description

Fluent Material Applicator The invention relates to the application of grout and the like.
When applying grout and the like it can be very messy, awkward, wasteful and time consuming. Therefore this invention may well be beneficial.
The present invention seeks to provide a tool that has a reservoir for grout and the like and a means of applying it in a practical manner, is simple to produce and cheap to manufacture.
According to the invention a fluent material applicator comprises, a threaded rod is rotated through a back plate of a cage protruding enough for the collar of a pressure plate to slide over the end of the threaded rod.
A container is then loaded from the rear and placed into the cage. The threaded rod is then rotated sending the pressure plate into the container forcing the fluent material out of a nozzle. The threaded rod is of sufficient length to travel the distance of the container thus emptying it.
The invention will now be described in greater detail by way of example, with reference to the drawings, in which: Fig 1/1. Threaded rod with handle 2. Pressure plate with collar on back 3. Container B. Nozzle 4. Cage A. Back plate with compatible female thread The threaded rod Fig 1/1 is rotated through the back plate Fig 1/4/A protruding enough for the collar of the pressure plate Fig 1/2 to slide over the end of the threaded rod Fig 1/1.
The container Fig 1/3 is then loaded from the rear and placed into the cage Fig 1/4. The threaded rod Fig 1/1 is then rotated sending the pressure plate Fig 1/2 into the container Fig 1/3 forcing the fluent material out of the nozzle Fig 1/3/B. The threaded rod Fig 1/1 is of sufficient length to travel the distance of the container thus emptying it.
It will be understood that a number of modifications of, or additions to, may be made to the described device.
For example The back plate may or may not form part of the cage.
It is necessary for the pressure plate not to rotate with the threaded rod different methods of attaching them to each other could be adopted eg. some type of catch, which would also make it easier to withdraw the pressure plate.
The thread of the threaded rod can be changed to achieve different distances of travel per turn.
The handle of the threaded rod could be changed to improve grip and or comfort and or leverage.
The container could be pre loaded incorporate a pressure plate and a compatible female back plate ready for the threaded rod to be wound in.

Claims (6)

  1. Claims:1. A fluent material applicator comprises, a threaded rod is rotated through a back plate of a cage protruding enough for the collar of a pressure plate to slide over the end of the threaded rod.
    A container is then loaded from the rear and placed into the cage. The threaded rod is then rotated sending the pressure plate into the container forcing the fluent material out of a nozzle. The threaded rod is of sufficient length to travel the distance of the container thus emptying it.
  2. 2. A container having a nozzle, a pressure plate, an attachable back plate and a threaded rod.
  3. 3. A container having a nozzle, a pressure plate, a fixed back plate and a threaded rod.
  4. 4. A cage suitable for housing a container as claimed in claim 1, 2 & 3.
  5. 5. A threaded rod with handle suitable for rotating into a back plate and attaching to a pressure plate.
  6. 6. A device for the purpose of releasing a fluent material substantially as described herein with reference to the drawings.
