Abstract
236,615. Robinson, E. Y. March 26, 1924. Electrodes; treating after deposition; metals and alloys, depositing.-Platinum, an alloy, or nickel is deposited by electrolysis on tubular or sheet tungsten or molybdenum as a coating to which an electron emitting coating may be applied subsequently. A solution of platinum chloride containing citric acid may be used; or platinum black may be deposited from a 3 per cent solution of platinum chloride with 0.02 per cent of lead acetate. The core is dried and heated to the melting point of platinum to produce an adherent coating. Nickel may be deposited from a solution of nickel sulphate containing magnesium sulphate and boric acid. An oxide coating is applied subsequently to the composite core. According to the Provisional Specification a filament may be coated by similar processes.
