Abstract
An angling clamp arrangement provides an adjustable fastening between the leg of a fishing box/seat and a rodrest arm. The arrangement comprises a pair of clamps formed from two members each slotted at 5 with splined clamping bores 1 and confronting toothed surfaces 2. A single screw 10 extends through aligned bores in the members and engages a nut 9 to contract both clamps. In addition the members are relatively pivotable about the axis of the screw and can be secured in a required angular position by tightening the screw to interengage the surfaces 2.
Description
<Desc/Clms Page number 1> ANGLING CLAMP This invention relates to a single hand operated clamp system. Securing rod rest to a fishing box/seat. Allowing 3D movement.
Other rod rest clamping devices are disadvantaged in giving only up or down movement, needing both hands to operate. They also utilize more than 3 moving parts.
The object of this invention provides the Angler with multi directional clamping of rodrest relative to fishing box/seat. Manipulated quickly by one hand, tightening a single screw. This promotes a tactical advantage! Accordingly, this invention is comprised of a female split body with a vertical linear spline bore captivating at 90 .A male split body also having a linear spline bore. Both male and female parts locate concentrically together allowing 360 of rotation. Rotation is stopped by opposite toothed crown wheels that interlock. Thus resulting in the gripping of the fishing box leg and rod rest arm at chosen position. A single screw and nut that is integrally housed through male and female bodies activates the thrust compression.
Preferably the clamp is of a tough plastic to be injection moulded or die cast in Aluminium.

A specific embodiment of the invention will now be described with reference to the accompanying drawing in which: FIGURE 1 Illustrates all parts assembled ready to operate, showing the respective rotational axis.
FIGURE 2 Shows sectioned side view of female moulding and respective wall thickness and linear splined bore.
FIGURE 3 Shows front view of female moulding. FIGURE 4 Shows sectioned plan view of female moulding.
FIGURE 5 Shows back view of female moulding illustrating cavity for nut insert. FIGURE 6 Shows sectioned side view of male moulding and respective wall thickness and linear splined bore.
FIGURE 7 Shows front view of male moulding and interlocking crown wheel. FIGURE 8 Shows sectioned plan view of male moulding.
FIGURE 9 Shows back view of male moulding. FIGURE 10 Shows threaded nut and screw.
Referring to the drawing Figure 1, the clamp consists of two interlocking moulded bodies Male and female. Both male and female have a linear splined bore 1.
These splined bores 1, serve the purpose of encircling the fishing box leg and rod rest thus allowing 360 rotation and clamping of either square, round and octagonal sections.
The male spigot 3, and the female bore 6, locate concentrically together. Both male and female bodies rotate 360 within each other and are interlocked by opposing toothed crown wheels 2.
The interlocking is achieved when the integral screw 10, and nut 9, are tightened. This thrust pressure also reduces the width of slot 5, of both male and female moulding. Therefore reducing the diameters of splined bores 1, male and female.
The nut 9, is captivated in recess 8. The screw 10, is guided through clearance hole 4, seating on spotface.

Claims (8)
- CLAIMS An angling clamp comprising of a female split body with a vertical linear splined bore captivating at 90' a male split body also having a linear splined bore. Both male and female parts locate concentrically together allowing 360 of rotation. Rotation is stopped by opposite toothed crown wheels that interlock. Thus resulting in the gripping of the fishing box leg and rod rest arm at a chosen position. A single screw and nut that is integrally housed through male and female bodies activate the compression. The clamp system is of a tough plastic to be injection moulded. But may also be die cast in aluminium.
- 2. An angling clamp as claimed in claim 1, wherein the two linearly splined bores provide peripheral and linear movement and clamping. Housing both fishing box leg and rod rest arm of square, round or octagonal section.
- 3. An angling clamp as claimed in claims 1 & . 2, wherein the male body spigot is located in to the female's body bore allowing concentric rotation of 360 .
- 4. An angling clamp as claimed in any preceding claim wherein opposite toothed crown wheels interlock when thrusted together. Thus stopping rotational movement. Resulting in rod rest arm up and down positions.
- 5. An angling clamp as claimed in any preceding claim wherein both mating male and female bodies have through slots moulded/cast into their respective linear splined bores. Thus when compressed reduces respective male and female linear splined bores.
- 6. An angling clamp as claimed in claim 5, wherein compression of the slots is actuated by tightening of screw and nut.
- 7. An angling clamp as claimed in claim 6, wherein the screw is integrally housed through a clearance hole of male body. Tightening into nut captivated in moulded/cast recess of female body.
- 8. Herein with reference to figures an angling clamp substantially as described 1 to 10 of the accompanying drawing.
