Abstract
The device includes an apertured plate (4) attached to one end of stem (5) and a spacing block (6) and clamp (7) attached to the other end. In use, the plate is fixed to a wall (10) via the apertures and a scaffold member (11) is held by the clamp.
Description
<Desc/Clms Page number 1>
THE HEAVY- DUTY SCAFFOLDING WALL TIE The invention relates to the heavy-duty scaffolding wall tie, which can be used in a variety of structures. The invention will be referred to as the wall tie for future reference. Wall ties are widely used in the construction industry but recent EU Legislation has meant that existing wall ties do not meet proposed UK standards. No other wall tie removes movement from independent scaffold structures so therefore these types of ties are liable to work loose and become dangerous. The Health and Safety Executive are not happy with existing methods for tying scaffolding to buildings. The object of the invention is to provide a wall tie which is easy to use and will conform to EU safety standards. Accordingly the invention provides a wall tie including a back fixing plate with fixing holes, a spacing stem, a spacing block for clearance on the scaffold tube to enable an independent scaffold clamp to be attached a fixed fixing clamp on top of the spacing block for the tightening and releasing when correct position of the scaffold tube is found. Preferably the invention will be made of metal or any other suitable compound. A preferred embodiment of the invention will now be described with reference to accompanying drawings in which Figure I shows side view of the wall tie. Figure 2 shows front-end view of the wall tie.
Drawing 1, figure 1 4. Fixing plate with holes fixed to 5. Spacing stem fixed to 6. Spacing block fixed to 7. Fixing clamp, which tightens, and releases.
<Desc/Clms Page number 2>
Drawing 1 as shown in figure I and figure 2 the wall tie comprises of 4, a back fixing plate with holes fixed to 5, a spacing stem fixed to 6, a spacing block fixed 7, a fixed fixing clamp for tightening and releasing.
The object of the invention is that, see drawing I figure 4, is fixed by 12 to 10 to enable 7 to be attached to any scaffolding that is being erect. All scaffolding has to be tied in at intervals of every 6 metres in height and 3 metres apart to stop the scaffolding from failing away from the structure and to minimise as much movement as possible. The invention affords the added facility that there are no restrictions to the length of scaffold tubes (within reason) required to do any given jobs, I E standard scaffold structures or wider jobs such as loading bays and working platfon-ns.

Claims (2)
- Claim 1. A wall tie comprises of a back plate with fixing holes fixed to a spacing stem. On the front end of the spacing stem is fixed a spacing block on to of which is fixed clamp for tightening and releasing. Claim
- 2. The wall tie fixes any solid surface by means of fixing holes as in claim 1. For example brickwork, concrete, metal or wood using appropriate fastenings. Claim3. The wall tie provides a fixing for tying in, inside and outside standards on independent scaffolding structures by means of the fixed fitting clamp as required by Health and Safety as in Claim I and 2. Claim 4. The wall tie provides a fixing for the use of unrestricted lengths of scaffolding tubes (within reason) by means of the fixed fixing clamp as in Claim I and 2.
