Abstract

A poster holder comprising a document holder 10 and a support 21. The document holder 10 has a flat sleeve-like body 11 with a transparent front 14 and an opening 12 at one end closable by a flap 13 integral with the front 14 which has a high tack adhesive 17 coated on its outer surface, the body 11 having a low tack adhesive 16 on its rear 15 at its other end. The document holder is permanently secured to the support 21 by the adhesive 17 on the flap and is releasably held in place by the low tack adhesive 16 at said other end. The support 21 may be a rigid sheet of cellular plastics material, the rear of which carries ties (32, Figures 4 and 5) for securing around a post (31).

Description

<Desc/Clms Page number 1> A Poster Display Holder Field This invention relates to a document holder which is usable in combination with support to form a poster holder of the type used for displaying advertisements, public notices, warning signs, political messages or similar. Background of the Invention Public notices are typically displayed on street furniture, for example telegraph poles, lamp stands, traffic sign posts, or trees, or walls and are typically nailed, pinned, pasted, or tied in place. If it is desired to protect the notice from the weather it may sometimes be placed in a transparent plastic bag, or laminated within a clear plastic laminate. These type of display holders are generally of a temporary nature and do not necessarily maintain the notice or poster in a good readable condition for the required period. Object of the present Invention The present invention provides a cheap weather proof document holder which in use forms part of a poster holder that is reusable.
Statements of Invention
<Desc/Clms Page number 2>
According to one aspect of the present invention there is provided a document holder having a flat sleeve-like body transparent on at least one side thereof and having an opening on its other side closable by an integral flap having adhesive coated on its outer surface, the body also having adhesive on its external surface on said other side at a location remote from the opening.
Preferably the body is rectangular having an opening at one end thereof. The outer peripheral margin of the body on said other side may be coated with adhesive for its major part.
The envelope is preferably made from a transparent plastics material such as PET (polyethyleneterapthallate), polyvinyl chloride, polyvinylidene chloride, nylon etc. Preferably, the front of the body is formed from a rigid or semi-rigid sheet of transparent material, and the rear is formed from a flexible sheet of transparent material.
The adhesive coating on the envelope is covered in a peelable protective layer prior to use.
Also according to the Invention there is provided a poster or notice holder comprising a substantially planar support and a document holder as described above in which the document holder being permanently secured to the support by the adhesive coating on the flap.
<Desc/Clms Page number 3>
The support preferably comprises a flat sheet of relatively rigid material such as laminated wood, cardboard, plastics sheet , and preferably a relatively lightweight twin plastics sheet sold under the trade name Corex. The holder is mounted to a post or other support means by plastic ties fixed to the rear of the support preferably by self adhesive fixing blocks through which the ties pass. The ties preferably comprise a flexible plastics serrated strap having a detent at one end thereof engagable with the serrations on the strap. The detent is preferably releasable.
Yet another aspect of the invention provides a poster holder kit comprising a document holder having a sleeve like body transparent on at least one side thereof and having an opening on its other side closable by an integral flap having adhesive coated on its outer surface, the body also have a tacky adhesive on its external surface on said other side at a location remote from the opening, the adhesive coating being covered in a peelable protective layer, a support, and at least one f fixing block having a tie mounted thereon, the fixing block having a self adhesive pad thereon covered in a peelable protective layer.
Another aspect of the present invention provides a poster holder for displaying notices and comprising a transparent
<Desc/Clms Page number 4>
sheet having tacky adhesive coated at peripheral locations on one surface allowing the sheet to be adhered to a front surface of a planar support, and at least one fixing block having a tie mounted thereon and which is adhered to the rear surface of the planar support.
Description of the Drawings The invention will be described by way of example and with reference to the accompanying drawings in which: Fig. 1 is a plan view of a document holder according to the present invention, Fig. 2 is side view of the poster holder using the document holder of Fig 1, Fig. 3 is a side view of an initial stage of mounting the document holder to a support, Fig. 4 shows the poster holder mounted to a post, and Fig. 5 is a view of a tie and fixing with the strap engaged in the detent.
Detailed Description of the Invention With reference to Fig. 1, there is shown a rectangular document holder 10 which has a sleeve like body 11 sealed around its periphery and having an opening 12 at one end which is closable by an integral flap 13, similar to an envelope. conveniently the sleeve is dimensioned to receive A4 size sheets. The front 14 of the sleeve which carries the flap 13 is formed from a rigid or semi-rigid transparent PVC sheet and the rear 15 is formed from a
<Desc/Clms Page number 5>
flexible transparent PVC sheet.
The peripheral margins of the rear 15 of the sleeve are coated in a low tack adhesive 16 and the flap 13 on its front face is coated with a high tack adhesive 17. When the flap 13 is folded down the adhesive 17 is on the rearwardly facing outer surface of the flap. The adhesive coating may be covered in a peelable protective layer.
Now with reference also to Figs. 2 & 3, the document holder 10 can have a display item inserted into the body 11 through the opening 12 . The holder 10 is then secured to a planar support 21 by adherence of the flap 13 to an upper portion of the support. The holder 10 is then folded over the flap 13 so that the rear 15 of the body lies adjacent the support 21 to which it adheres through the low tack adhesive 16.
In order to change the display item , the holder 10 is lifted from the support 21 whilst the high tack adhesive 17 retains the flap 13 in position. An item can then be removed from the opening 12 and replaced by another and the body 11 subsequently re-stuck to the support.
The support 21 is preferably a sheet of rigid plastics material, preferably a light weight cellular material, for example, a twin flute corrugated material sold under the name Corex.
<Desc/Clms Page number 6>
The document holder and support are mounted to a post 31 by the use of mounting blocks 30 which comprise serrated nylon ties 32 which are each slidably held in a fixing block 33. Each of the fixing blocks 33 is secured to the back of the support 21 by a high tack adhesive pad 34 which is covered in a peelable protective layer prior to attachment to the support. The mounting blocks 30 may be aligned vertically and may be spaced as is required for a particular site, for example a vertical post 31. The ties 32 are in the form of serrated nylon straps having a detent 35 at one end, and which is preferably releasable.
The holder 10, support 21 and mounting blocks, 1-4 blocks, may form a kit from which a poster holder can be made. In this state the fixing blocks and document holder 10 are supplied with protective peelable plastic or waxed paper layers covering the adhesive.
