Abstract
A tilting/turning golf practice platform comprising a platform 1 on a base 2, raised by a jack 5. Preferably the base 2 has wheels 6 and is mounted on a central spigot 4, by which the platform may be turned through 180 degrees. An artificial grass mat 8 is placed on top of the platform, having indentations (Fig 5,14) to prevent movement of the ball when the platform is raised.
Description
2364504 TILTING / TURNING GOLF PRACTICE PLATFORM I MAT.
This invention relates to a Tilting/Turning golf practice platform / mat.
Golf practice mats are used at most golf driving ranges and golf course practice areas throughout the world. These golf mats enable golfers to practice their strokes on one plain, with the golf ball at the same level as their feet.
The Tilting /Turning golf practice mat allows both left and right handed golfers to practice their strokes on five different plains, as described below:- Plain 1. The golf bafl at the same level as the feet Plain 2. The golf ball below the level of the feet. Plain 3. The golf ball above the level of the feet. Plain 4. Strokes to be played uphill. Plain 5. Strokes to be played downhill.
Strokes listed in plains 2 to 5 are considered to be the most difficult and thus require the most practice. This invention enables any golfer to do so.
This invention comprises of a hinged platform preferably made from wood set into a metal frame. The platform is attached to a metal base set on wheels. The hinged platform is raised by a jack operated manually, this allows the golfer to adjust the height the feet are above / below the ball and the gradient up and downhill. The base is mounted on a central spigot allowing it to turn 360 degrees in its own area. On top of the platform will be placed an artificial grass mat.
A preferred embodiment of the invention will now be described with reference to accompanying drawings.

Fig. 5(a) Side view of artificial grass mat Please note the drawings are NOT to scale.
As shown in Fig. 1. the platform 1 is raised by a jack 5 which is operated manually. The uprights 7 help support the platform I when it is not raised.
Fig.2. shows the preferred shape of the platform 1. The octagonal shape allows the apparatus to turn in a smaller area than if it was square.
As shown in Fig. 3 and 3a. The base is set on wheels 6 and is mounted on a central spigot 4 which is housed in a metal plate 13. The central spigot 4 is attached to the ground 10. The central spigot 4 and the wheels 6 allows the apparatus to turn through 360 degrees. The jack 5 is also housed on a metal plate 12.
Fig.4 and 4a. Shows how the platform 1 and the base 2 are attached together by a hinge mechanism. It consists of two uprights 3 which fit inside two 'V" shaped strips of metal 9. These are joined together by a circular metal bar 11 which slides through holes in the uprights 3 and the "U" shaped strips of metal 9.
Fig, 5 and 5a shows the artificial grass mat 8 has indentations 14 cut into it. This prevents the golf ball from rolling when the platform 1 is raised.

Claims (4)
1. A Tilting / Turning golf practice platform / mat enables both left and right handed golfers to practice golf strokes on five plains:- Plain 1. The golf ball at the same level as the feet. Plain 2. The golf ball below the level of the feet. Plain 3. The golf ball above the level of the feet. Plain 4. Strokes to be played uphill. Plain 5. Strokes to be played downhill.
2. A Tilting / Turning golf practice platform / mat as claimed in claim 1 consists of a hinged platform attached to a base. The platform is raised by a jack which allows the platform to tilt between 0 degrees (flat) and 25degrees.
3. A Tilting / Turning golf practice platform / mat, as claimed in claim 2 consists of a base set on wheels and mounted on a central spigot enabling it to rotate through 360 degrees.
4. A Tilting /Turning golf practice platform / mat as claimed in claim 2 enables golf strokes to be played with the golf ball at varying heights above and below the golfers feet and at a varying gradient uphill and downhill.
