Abstract
A thermally insulated portable container for food comprises an electrical heating element which is connectible with an external power source such as the electrical system of a vehicle or a domestic electrical supply. The heating element may be in the base A and/or walls B and/or lid D of the container, which may have carrying handles C. The container is intended to maintain heated food at a temperature above 63{C.
Description
1 2360697 The Electric Hot Portable Container This invention relates to a
Electric Hot Portable Container.
Portable Containers are well known receptacles for transporting cooked food stuffs, there being many designs, falling into two basic categories.
Category One - being a vehicle mounted or Portable, with and without a renewable heat source, although portable in every sense of the word they are very cumbersome, bulky and unwieldy, the renewable heat source does not utilise the vehicles own electrical system directly to power the renewable heat source or it uses solid or liquid fuels.
Category Two - being insulated containers whereby once the food stuffs has been cooked and placed inside with or without a non -renewable heat source, the temperature dissipates over a short period of time.
According to the present invention there is provided a light weight Electric Hot Portable Container with a renewable heat source, powered directly by the vehicles electrical system or a domestic electrical system with the appropriate renewable heat source or by using a transformer to reduce the domestic electrical system to that of any vehicles electrical system, enabling the conveyance of food stuffs from the place of preparation to where it will be hot for consumption.
The Electric Hot Portable Container will keep food at a temperature above 630c alleviating problems with bacterial growth.
Being light weight with carrying handles the Electric Hot Portable Container can be carried easily to and from the vehicle, then transported to the location and carried to the door of the recipients or to where consumption is to take place.
A specific embodiment of the invention will now be described by way of example with reference to the accompanying drawing in which:- Figure 1 Shows in perspective, the Electric Hot Portable Container with detached lid to the rear ready for loading, with small illustration of one method of carrying.
Referring to the drawing the Electric Hot Portable Container comprises a base containing the renewable heat source W, although the heat source has been placed in the base, it could also be placed in the walls 5' or the lid D' or a combination of W, W or D'. Insulated walls W. Carrying handles 'C', there are other types and methods of placing carrying handle (not shown). An insulated lid V, there are other types of lid (not shown). One method of carrying 'F. Power cable and connector E, for connection of the Electric Hot Portable Container to the vehicles electrical system or to a transformer connected to the domestic electrical system.
