DESCRIPTION
THE INVENTION RELATES TO A SUPPORTING PILLOW WHICH IS USED WHEN SLEEPING IN A PRONE FACE-DOWN POSITION.
THE AIM OF THE INVENTION IS TO AVOID THE NECK-TWISTING EFFECT OF USING A NORMAL PILLOW.
ACCORDINGLY THE INVENTION RELATES TO A SUPPORTING PILLOW DESIGNED TO FILL THE GAP BETWEEN THE NECKND CHEST AREA OF THE SLEEPER AND THE MATTRESS THE HEAD OF THE USER RESTS ON THE NATTRESS.
THE UPPER SPINE AND THE NECK IS THEREFORE STRAIGHT, AVOIDING DISTORTION.
THE MAIN FEATURES OF THE INVENTION IS THE WEDGE SHAPE AND THE THICKER AREA SUPPORTING THE NECK, THE PART FROM THE NECK DOWN TO JUST ABOVE THE THORAX TAPERS AND CONFORMS TO AN AVERAGE HUMAN FORM.
WHEN MADE OF FOAM MATERIAL A SPACE IS LEFT UNDER THE BOTTOM OF THE NECK-SUPPORTING PART TO ENABLE A SLIGHT SPRING EFFECT WHEN THE NECK IS LOWERED ONTO IT.

AS SHOWN IN FIGURE 3-1 THE SUPPORT IS MADE SO THAT THE PART WHICH SUPPORTS THE CHEST LIES FLAT ON THE MATTRESS.
THE THICKER PART 3-2 WHICH SUPPORTS THE NECK IS MADE TO HINGE DOWN WHEN PRESSURE IS APPLIED. THIS IS OBTAINED DUE TO THIS PART BEING RAISED BY AN ANGLE OF 25 degrees AS SHOWN IN FIGURE 3-3.
AS SHOWN IN FIGURE 4-1 THE SIDES ARE SLIGHTLY RAISED TO CONTAIN THE UPPER CHEST AREA OF THE USER.

1 A SUPPORTING PILLOW MADE OF FOAM MATERIAL SHAPED TO SUPPORT THE NECK AND UPPER CHEST AREA OF A PERSON SLEEPING IN A FACE-DOWN POSITION.
2. A SUPPORTING PILLOW HAVING A WEDGE SHAPED PROFILE CONFORMING TO THE SPACE BETWEEN THE MATTRESS AND THE NECK/CHEST AREA OF AN AVERAGE HUMAN FORM.
