Abstract

A practice putting aid causes the lead hand of the golfer to remain stable throughout the conventional putting stroke by means of a small semi-circular stirrup 1 which is held against the shaft of the putter which is in turn held in place by a larger semi-circular stirrup 2 which is placed against the wrist of the person holding the putter. The adjustable arm connects the two stirrups and can be lengthened/shortened by the means of a screw lock. The stirups 1 and 2 may be held in place by the gentle pressure of the golfer's correct conventional grip of the putter shaft.

Description

2355669 Golfer's Putting Practice Aid This is a device which is designed
to prevent extraneous movement of the hands and wrists when practising a conventional putting stroke.
Amongst golfers it is held to be true that the putting stroke should be kept as simple as possible and that the putting stroke should be initiated by the larger, more stable muscles of the upper arm and shoulders, avoiding, where possible, movement in the hands and breaking of the wrists.
By means of two semi-circular stirrups the lead hand of the golfer can be made to remain in a stable position throughout the stroke. The smaller stirrup is designed to be held against the shaft of the putter, whilst the larger stirrup is held gently in place against the wrist by the pressure applied by the hands in maintaining the correct conventional grip on the putter handle (see Figure One).
The stirrups are joined by an adjustable arm (see Figure Two) which can be lengthened shortened by the release of a screw-lock to suit the grip and stance of the person using the device.
Proper use of this device will, during practice, prevent the breaking of the user's wrists. This will, after time, promote the correct action of the conventional stance and stroke. After practice, muscle memory will enable the golfer to groove a correct and repeatable putting stroke without the use of the device.
