Driving machines.-A flexible shaft a driven through friction or toothed gearing from the engine of a motor vehicle drives a lathe or drill through a clutch contained in the handle at the outer end of the shaft. The inner end of the shaft a is adjustably carried by a detachable bracket e and is driven through toothed or friction gearing from the fly-wheel b or a pulley on the end of the shaft may engage the fan belt. The outer end of the shaft rotates in a handle h and is connected to the tool by a spring-pressed clutch k which can be disconnected and held out of engagement by a cap m.
