Abstract

A score card support 5 is adjustably and removably positioned on the shaft 1 of a wheeled golf bag carrier. Support 5 is mounted on a pivot plate 4 to be angularly adjustable between suitable writing positions and a closed position where it lies flat along the shaft (Figs 4 to 6, not shown) and is also slidable vertically in relation to the pivot plate. A pivoting lever 3 ensures that the angular adjustment is maintained by a pawl and ratchet, whilst further pressing of the lever enables complete detachment of the support 5 from the pivot plate 4 (Fig 7, not shown).

Description

2354174 TITLE: SCORE BOARD COMBINING DEVICE FOR GOLF CARM
BACKGROUND OF THE INVENTION
This invention relates to a score board combining device for golf carts. particularly to one not only permitting the score board adjustable in its angle for writing but also facilitating assembling the score board with or disassembling from a long rod of a golf cart.
A known conventional score board 11 for golf carts shown in Fig. 1 generally! fixed tightly on a long rod 1. of a gol.f cart and resting inclinedly on it. so i t i s not proper for wr 1 t 1 ng scores on the score board 11. Besides, the score board 11 is not. so easy to be assembled with or disassembled from the long rod 1. with screws possible to be lost in disassembling and assembling.
SUMMARY OF ME INVENTION
An objective of this invention is to offer a scone board combining device for golf carts, easy for the score board to be adjustably-Positioned parallel to the.
ground to facilitate writing scores on it after the score board is combined with the long rod of a golf CMrt.
Another objective of this invention is to offer a score board combining device for golf carts, easy to be assembled with or disassembled from the long rod of a 1 golf cart.
BRIEF DESCRIPTION OF DRAWINGS
This invention will be better understood by refer ring to the accompanying drawings. wherein:
Figure I is a perspective view of a conventional score board f i xed on the I ong rod of a go If cart; Figure 2 is an exploded perspective view of a score boar-d combining device for golf carts in the present invention; Figure 3 is a perspective bottom side view of a score board and a connect base in the Present invention; Figure 4 is a perspective view of the score board kept as parallel as the ground b_y the score board com bining device for a golf cart in the Present invention; Figure 5 is a side cross--sectional view of the score board in Fig. 4; Figure 6 is a side cross-isectional view of the score board resting on the long rod i n the present invention; Figure 7 is a side cross-sectional view of the score board being taken off the long rod in the present invention; and.
Figure 8 is a Perspective view of the score board completely separated from the long rod of a golf cart.
DEMILED DESCRIPTION OF THE PREFERRED EMODMENT
A preferred embodiment of a score board combining device for golf carts in the present invention, as shown in Figs. 2. 3. and 4. includes a f ix base 2 tightly fixed on a long rod I of a golf c:6trt, a swingable plate 3 P i vota I I y connected to the f i x base 2 w i th a bo I t and nut or a r i vet 31, a connect base 4 P i vota I I y connected to the fix base 2 with a bolt and nut or rivet 41. and a score board 5 as main components combined together.
Me f 1 x base 2 has an e I ast i c member 21 formed vertical and right-angled' between two Parallel side walls and having a front slip-stop surface 211.
Die swingable plate 3 is loobted on the elastic member 21 of the fix base 2. having a cam member 32 and a pull plate member 33 extending up from the cam member 32.
The connect base 4 is located under the elastic me.mtx--r 21. of the f i x base 2. hav i ng a s I i de ra i 1 4.2 respectively formed on two opposite sides of an upper surface, an elastic engage member 4.3 formed in the front center section, and a semi-circuiar toothed surface 44 formed under each s 11 de ra i 1 42 and near one end of the e I ast i c member 21 of the f i x base 2 and hav i ng a P I uraI i ty of teeth on 1 ts, surface to engage the e 1 ast i c member 21. 25. Ibe score board 5 has a s 11 de groove 51 respectively formed on two opposite sides of the front section of the bottom for the slide rai 1 42 to slide in, and an:3.
engage projecting member 52 formed between the two slide grooves 51 for the elastic engage member 43 of the fix base 2 to engage the end of the engage Projecting member.52 so as to secure the score board 5 with the connect base 4- After the score board 5 is combined with the long rod I with the score board combining device, as shown in Figs- 4 and 5, the fix base 2 is normally and always fixed on the long rod 1, and the swingable plate 3 and the connect base 4 are also' normally and always fixed under the fix base 2. Then the swingable plate 3 is swung to let the cam member.1)2 pre&s the elastic member 21., which then engages the teeth of the semi-circular surface 44. and the score board 5 has its two slidegroove-_z, 51. engaging the slide rails 42 of' the connect base 4, and the engage member 52 engages the elastic engage mo-mber 43 at te connect base 4 at the same time, so that the score. board 5 may be moved and adjusted in its po-sit.ion to become parallel to the ground, and form- ing 45 or so to the long- rod I for convenience of writing scores on it.
If the score board 5 is to be collapsed from the extended position parallel to the ground, the swingable plate 3 is pushed up. forcing the cam. member 32 no longer press the elastic member 21, which then no more engages the teeth of the semi-circular surface 44 of the connect. base 4. Then the score board 5 is pressed down 4.
to a lower pos.ition. with the swingable plate 3 further Pressed down to force the elastic member 21 urging aga 1 nst the connect ba-.,-- 4 so that the score board 5 may rest flatly on the long rod I in an inclined position.
in other words, there is no angle between the score board 5 and the long rod 1, as shown in Fig. 6. Provided the elastic member 4.3 is further Pressed to separate from the engage- member 52 of the score board 5. with the s I i de. grooves 51 d i sengag i na from the s I i de rails 42, the the score board 5 is completely separated from the connect base4 and from the long rod 1. as shown in F i 7 and 8.
On the contrary. if the score board 5 is to be used, it is combined with the connect base 4. by placing the slide grooves 51. into the slide rails 42. and engaging the engage. member 52 with the elastic engage member 43 of the connect base 4. Thus the score board 5 is already combined on the -long rod 1. possible to be extended to become parallel to the ground in the same :__X) process as described above, as-shown in Figs. 4 and 5.
Further, it is worth to say that the angle between the. --,core board 5 and the. long rod I can be. adjusted in the range of 0 to 45, so the score board 5 can be ad.iusted to any angle between 0 to 45 25. M can be understood from the aforesaid descrip tion, the invention has the following advantages I. '17he score board can be Properly angled for S writing, adjustable in its angle.
2. The score board can be adi usted to one of many angles for a user to select.
3. Assembling and disassemb4ing of the score board is very simple and easy and quick.
While the Preferred embodiment of the invention has been described above. it will be recognized and understood that various modifications ma.y be made therein and the appended clafins are intended to cover all such modifications which may fall within the spirit and scope of the. invention.
