Abstract

A golf club (10) comprised of a shaft (14), a club head (12), and a sleeve (26) disposed between the two. The sleeve (26) covers an end of the shaft (14) that is inserted into a close-fitting cylindrical bore (22) of the club head (12) and isolates the shaft (14) from the club head (12). The sleeve (26) is made of a material and has a thickness such that the isolation reduces the shock transmitted to the golfer's hands during a golf swing and reduces stress concentrations at the point where the shaft (14) exits the cylindrical bore (22).
