Abstract
A dullness-proof device for a shaping-knife provided on a roller (1) has one or more than one sets of small supporting wheels (2) abutting on the surface (10) of the roller (1). The surface (10) of the roller (1) includes an annular protruding rim (11) on each end thereof concentric therewith. The annular protruding rims (11) are provided on the surface (10) of the roller (1) at both ends of the surface (10). The small supporting wheels (2) contact and abut the annular protruding rims (11) of the roller (1) above same supporting plane to exert a force contrary to the gravity of the roller (1), thereby, concentricity between an axle (12) of the roller (1) and two bearings (13) (figure 2) can be maintained. And thereby, dulling of the shaping-knife (14) due to the gaps between the roller axle (12) and the bearings (13) during rolling for cutting can be eliminated, and therefore, life of use of the knife (14) of the roller (1) can be increased.
Description
COMPLETESPECIFICATION
A ROLLER-MOUNTED SHAPING KNIFE APPARATUS AND A
DULLNESS-PROOF DEVICE THEREFOR
The present invention is related to a roller-mounted shaping knife apparatus and a dullness-proof device therefor, wherewith, the shaping-knife provided on the roller can get more stable cutting action during rolling cutting, and knife dulling action due to gaps between the axle of the roller and bearings during rolling can be effectively reduced. Thereby, the trouble of abrasion of the blade and dulling of the knife can be eliminated, and life of use of the knife provided on the roller can be increased.
Shaping machines have been popularly used in the markets, and are used for cutting soft thin article such as papers, cloths etc. Such shaping machines are divided generally into two kinds; they are plain cutting and rolling cutting. Wherein, a shaping machine for rolling cutting is provided with a shaping-knife provided on a roller cooperating with another auxiliary roller. The thin article is forwarded for feeding under cooperation of the shaping-knife and the roller, the knife formed on the roller is rotated to fast and continuously proceed cutting on the thin article.
However, in the process of shaping-cutting, bearings are provided on both ends of the roller axle, and gaps exist between the axle of the roller and the bearings during rolling, this allows self rotating of the roller axle taking advantage of the beads of the bearings. But the roller and the knife are both quite heavy, when the roller is mounted on the shaping machine, the shaping-knife on the roller tends to sink by its gravity, and slight eccentricity results at both ends where the roller axle and the bearings mutually contact.
And more, a cutting blade is provided on the shaping-knife of the roller, the cutting blade may include longitudinal, transverse or oblique sections or irregular shaped three-dimensional contours. When in cutting, the shaping-knife can only completely cut the thin article suppose the roller axle is firmly supported at both ends thereof. However, the gaps between the roller axle and the bearings not only are unable to afford effective supporting to get balance, but also tend to induce dullness of the knife at the moment when the shaping-knife cuts some article with its transverse knife sections in a higher loading state, to be stated hereinafter, just after it cuts the article with its longitudinal knife sections. This will be seriously harmful to sharpness and life of use of the blade.
The main object of the present invention Is to provide one or more than one sets of small supporting wheels to abut on the surface of a roller having a shaping-knife.
The supporting wheels are mounted on the surface at the two ends of the roller in order to balance the roller and to prop it up to keep concentric state of the roller axle and the bearings. This can eliminate dulling action of the knife due to the gaps during rolling in processing. Thereby, abrasion of the knife can be avoided, and life of the shaping-knife on the roller can be increased.
The present invention will be apparent after reading the detailed description of the preferred embodiment thereof in reference to the accompanying drawings.
In the drawings:
Fig. 1 is a perspective view showing the present invention mounted on a shaping machine;
Fig. 2 is a side view showing an embodiment of the present invention ;
Fig. 3 is a front view of the embodiment of the present invention;
Fig. 4 is a side view showing another embodiment of the present invention;
Fig. 5 is a front view of the said another embodiment of the present invention.
Referring to Fig. 1, the dullness-proof device for a shaping-knife provided on a roller of the present invention has one or more than one sets of small supporting wheels 2 abutting on the surface 10 of the roller 1. The surface 10 of the roller 1 includes an annular protruding rim 11 on each end thereof concentric therewith. The annular protruding rims 11 abut on the surface 10 of the roller 1 at both ends of the surface 10. The lower parts of the annular protruding rims 11 are provided for supporting the small supporting wheels 2 which contact and abut the annular protruding rims 11 of the roller 1 on same supporting plane (also referring to Fig. 3).
As shown in Fig. 2,4, one or more than one sets of small supporting wheels 2 can be mounted at the lower part or bottom of the roller 1 and tightly contact the annular protruding rims 11, so that the roller 1 can generate a component counteraction force B1 (as shown in Fig. 2) or a normal counteraction force B (as shown in Fig. 4) to counteract a component gravitational force A1 (as shown in Fig. 2) or a normal gravitational force A (as shown in Fig. 4) and to eliminate the gaps induced by the gravitational force A between the roller axle 12 and the bearings 13.
Thereby, concentricity between the latter two can be maintained.
And thereby, when the roller 1 fast rotates for processing, the blade 14 thereon contacts and then leaves the surface 30 of an auxiliary wheel 3 to cut a thin article, and when it tends to be dulled at the moment that the shaping-knife 14 cuts an article with its transverse knife sections in a higher loading state (at the moment, the knife cuts the article in a linear-contact mode), as shown in Fig. 1 (the transverse direction indicates the direction transverse to that the article proceeds), just after it cuts the article with its longitudinal knife sections (at that moment, the knife cuts the article in a point-contact mode), the roller 1 is influenced by the small supporting wheels 2 to largely reduce chance of dulling of the blade 14 in collision by cutting. And therefore, life of use of the blade 14 of the roller 1 can be increased.
And more, when one or more than one sets of small supporting wheels 2 are mounted at the lower part or bottom of the roller 1, the supporting wheels 2 do not certainly contact tightly the annular protruding rims 11; rather, the supporting wheels 2 abut on the roller axle 12 at the lower part or bottom of the roller 1 at both ends of the latter (as shown in Fig. 5). In this way, they can also reduce the gaps between the
roller axle 12 and the bearings 13 to eliminate chance of dulling of the blade 14.
In conclusion, the dullness-proof device for a shaping-knife provided on a roller
of the present invention is simple, economic and effective in solving the problem of dulling existing in the art due to the gaps between the axle of the roller and bearings during rolling for cutting. Hence the present invention has novelty and improvement.
My invention may assume numerous forms and is to be construed as including
all modifications and variations falling within the scope of the appended claims.
Having thus described my invention, what I claim as new and desire to be secured by
