Description

Description: Title The ability to use electronic keyboards/pads in light deficient emironments.
Current Situation: Currently portable electronic deuces, which have some from of keyboard/key pad. used for inputting information and a screen for displassing information E. g.
Laptops.
Notebooks.
PCs, Palmtops.
Hand-held computers that close like laptops And handheld electronic computers/devices are unable to be used in areas where natural or artificial light is at a premium or nonexistent as the light from the screen is inadequate to allow the user to see the keys and hence the characters on the keyboard or keypad.
Invention This invention allows the use of equipment that uses any power supply be it battery operated or ran from the electrical supply which uses a ke board/pad be it numeric and/or alphabetic and/or punctuational and/or any other type To be used in areas where natural light or artificial light is at a premium or non existent.
The manner in which this is done is outlined in the next sub-section: Details To make keys on the keypadlboard from a NON-transparent material with the actual characters from a transparent material so that when the keys are light up bN-LEDs from underneath the keys the characters can be seen. This invention would be applicable to devices such as but is not limited to : -Laptops -PCs -Palm tops -Hand held devices that close like the above devices.

This invention ml ! allow the use of the aboe named devices in light deficient areas more effectivelv.
In cases where there are multiple characters on a single ke !-then each character can be made from the same or différent coloured transparent material.
The LEDs can be the same or different colours.
The power for the LED is derived from the power unit that supplies the device.
In reference to Diagram 1 Detailed exemple : In the below examples (diagram 1) the key which is the white area is made from a NON transparent material and the character (s) on the keN-is/are made from the transparent material. NOTE the transparent material for the characters) can be made from the same or different coloured transparent material.
When illuminated by the LED-which is undemeath the NON-transparent key (NOT SHOWN in diagram 1) will show the character. The LED is not shown as each device will have its own optimum placing for the LED on a per device basis.

  1. Claims This invention of using NON-transparent keys with the characters on the keys made from a transparent material on a keypad/keyboard and lighting up each key with the a LED from underneath will allow the use of Laptops, Notebooks.
    Palm-tops.
    PCs.
    Hand-held computers that close like laptops and Hand-held electronic devices/computers in light deficient areas more effectivelv as described in the description section.
