Abstract

A battery operated call cost display unit is connected between a telephone and a telecommunication network. The unit displays the cost of an on-going telephone call. Real time display of total call charges may also be displayed whilst a call is in progress. The unit is programmable and may be adjusted to suit different telecommunications networks.

Description

CALL COST DISPLAY THIS INVENTION RELATES TO A ELECTRONIC DISPLAY UNIT WHICH LOGS THE COST OF APHONE CALL AS IT IS BEING MADE ONE OF THE FEATURES OF USING A PHONE IS THAT THE CALLER DOES NOT KNOW THE EXACT COST OF THE CALL THEY ARE MAKING. EVEN WITH THE RECENT ADVENT OF ITEMISED BILLS, THE ACTUAL COST OF ANY CALL IS NOT GIVEN UNTIL WEEKS, AND OFTEN MONTHES, AFTER THE CALL WAS MADE THE CALL COST DISPLAY UNIT GIVES THE COST AS THE CALL IS BEING MADE AND THEREFORE GIVES THE CALLER MUCH MORE CONTROL OVER THE COST OF THEIR CALLS.
THE ATTACHED DRAWING (CCD 1) SHOWS WHAT THE CALL COST DISPLAY UNIT LOOKS LIKE AND ITS ESSENTIAL FEATURES ARE:1. IT IS PORTABLE 2. IT IS SELF CONTAINED 3. IT IS BATTERY OPERATED 4. IT IS PROGRAMMABLE TO SUITE ITS INDIVIDUAL OWNER 5. IT CAN BE ADJUSTED TO SUITE DIFFERENT TELEPHONE NETWORKS

CALL COST DISPLAY CLAIMS 1 AN ELECTRONIC DEVICE WHtCH LOGS AND DISPLAYS THE COST OF A PHONE CALL AS IT IS BEING MADE 2 A DEVICE AS CLAIMED IN 1 THAT IS PORTABLE AND CAN BE CONNECTED INTO DIFFERENT TELEPHONE NETWORKS 3 A DEVICE AS CLAIMED IN 1 OR 2 THAT CAN DISPLAY THE TOTAL BILL TO DATE FOR THE USER AND ADD ON TO IT AS A CALL IS BEING MADE 4 A DEVICE AS CLAIMED IN ANY PRECEEDING CLAIM WHICH IS MADE FROM METAL PLASTICS MATERIAL OR WOOD, OR FROM A COMBINATION OF THESE MATERIALS 5 A DEVICE SUBSTANTIALLY AS HEREIN DESCRIBED AND ILLUSTRATED IN THE ACCOMPANYING DRAWINGS Amendments to the claims have been filed as follows CALL COST DISPLAY CLAIMS
