Abstract

A foot support to prevent a patient slipping down a bed comprises a solid wedge shaped body with a covering 1 and straps 2 by which the body is secured to the bed.

Description

BED WEDGE The bed wedge is an aid to assist patients confined to bed to retain an upright position.
Any patient confined to bed can suffer discomfort if unable to keep an upright position In particular, patients with upper respiratory infection or patients who have undergone upper respiratory surgery require to sit upright. This position can be difficult to achieve because the patient may be weak or even unconscious.
The object of this invention is to assist patients confined to bed to maintain an upright position and aid their recovery.
The invention is a solid block with a permanent cover and strapping which is secured to the bed at the patients feet thus preventing the patient from slipping down the bed.

  1. CLAIMS 1. A specific embodiment of the invention will now be described by way of example with reference to the accompanying drawing in which: The drawing shows in perspective, an isometric view of the wedge with the permanent covering (1) and the strapping (2).
