Abstract
234,198. Green & Son, Ltd., E., and Slade, H. Feb. 29, 1924. Regenerators.-Apparatus for transferring heat from one fluid to another, such as from the products of combustion of a furnace to the air for combustion, comprises a number of rotary discs J mounted on a shaft I within a metal casing A suitably packed with non-conducting material B such as asbestos. The casing is divided into two compartments by a partition wall formed by strips H arranged between the discs and secured to the casing at G and to collars K arranged between the discs and surrounding the shaft I. The strips may be arranged in a vertical plane or at an angle, and may be of any shape in crosssection, but have one or both edges making close contact with the discs to ensure a tight joint and to act as scrapers. Inlets C, D and outlets C<1>, D<1> are provided in the casing on opposite sides of the partition H for the heating fluid and fluid to be heated. The inside of the casing is provided with projections L engaging with the discs to ensure alignment and prevent buckling.
