Abstract
233,546. Trier, V. A. June 12, 1924. Steering-mechanism. - A frictional straightsteering device for motor-cycle handle-bars &c. comprises bearing-plates and interposed friction discs subjected to a pressure which can be adjusted by the rider while the vehicle is in motion. The frictional element consists of a plate A secured to the centre of the handle-bar, a plate C sliding axially on a, projection A<2> of the plate A, but prevented from rotating relatively thereto by a lug C', a plate D rotatable relatively to the plates A, C and fixed to the cycle frame &c., and interposed friction discs F, the plates and discs being pressed together by a spring H, the pressure of which is adjustable by means of a screw G engaging threads in the projection A<2>. A greater number of plates and friction discs may be employed. The plate D is fixed to the cycle frame by means of a projection D<1> slotted at D<2> for the adjustable attachment by bolts of an arm secured to the top bar of the cycle frame. A rubber, leather, or other pad may be inserted between this arm and the frame.
