Abstract
A post protector which is attached to any type of obstacle sited on the public highways, the protector will be secured to lamp posts, poles, etc. by means of a harness. Protectors are in the form of fenders which can be filled, or inflated or be inside a container secured to the lower part of the obstacle ready to be inflated in the invent of an accident, by means of an airbag assembly which includes a sensing device. The post protector can be made up of segments and a variety of materials such as leather, rubber, plastics, polythenes etc. The post protector can also be fitted with reflectors and can be moulded to suit the application.
Description
Title: POST-PROTECTORS
Description of the invention
This invention relates to Lamp posts, Telegraph poles, Trees,
Road signs, Control boxes or any other items which are placed close to a road or any other place that motor vehicles have access.
It is cornon when driving to notice the enormous amount of dan aged Lamp posts, Telegraph poles (with flowers wrapped around them)
Tree's and Sign posts ect, that have been involved in fatal or serious accidents with rotor vehicles ect.
Therefore it is mar invention to clad or wrap the base of all of the above listed ite with a suitable material in order to cushion the impact cf a collision.
Materials may be of plastic, polythene, rubbers or any other man made fibres or resins or any other substances which could be utilised for the purpose of this invention. Furthermore the fenders refered to nay be in the form of an Air bag operated by a sensing devise or segments in various shapes and sizes and filled with air, liquids ect or any other substances that would lend itself to the above type of application refered too.
Segments could be joined together to suit reqtlirements and give flexibility in sizes and adaptability to fitting.
Fenders nay also be reflective to allow motorists to see thes more easily when dark. Telegraph poles are particularly hazardous because of there colcu and where they are placed.
Fenders could be manufactured along the lines of those currently used on boats and craft to prevent damage when mooring.
Objects of this invention is to reduce the amount of impact when vehicles collide with any of the above listed items b the installation of Lenders, air bags, foa ect. Thereby saving lives or serious injury to motorists or riders ect.
Specific embodiments of the invention will now be described by way of e:a=ple only ard with refence to the accompanying drawings in
FIGURE 1 is a sectional view of a set of three ferders
filled with air, liquids ect. which will be
secured to the base of the posts/signs ect.
FIGURE No.2.is a view of a Beacon, Road sign, Telegraph
pole, Lamp road ect, Tree, Control box.
