Abstract

233,128. Marshall, E. H., and Polkey, E. H. Nov. 18, 1924. Apparatus for applying corner-stays to boxes is provided with a device for preventing the running back or rucking of the bent staying- strip as it is fed towards the corner of the box, the device comprising a bracket 9 with a V-shaped slot 8 through which the strip is fed and a serrated stop member 1 pivoted at 3 in the bracket and normally pressed by a spring 5 to engage the bent staying-strip on its corner against the apex of the slot 8. A wire 12 is looped around the apex 8<1> of the slot 8 and bedded in a groove therein to minimize wear, and the contact between the strip and the apex of the slot may be varied by changing the wire. The member 1 may be moved against a stop 11 to disengage the strip.
