Abstract

The invention relates to magnetic devices for removing metallic particles from liquids, in particular for removing swarf from lubricating oils in engines, gearboxes, sumps etc. The invention may take the form of a magnetic dipstick or a magnetic drain plug or oil level plug. Each of these may be formed as a permanent magnet or include a permanent magnet or may be electromagnetic. By attracting metal particles the devices reduce the amount of contamination in the oil which serves to prolong the life of the associated machinery.

Description

Title: Magstick Description of the invention is invention relates to a dipstick used to measure the anount of fluid, oil or any other type of liquid inside a container.
The dipstick may be fabricated from metals or any other types of man made resins or plastics.
The sump, tank or any other type of receptacle may be made from metals or acy other types of man made resins or plastics.
Objects of the invention is to magnetise the dipstick cr alternatively fabricate dipsticks incorporating a magnetic field whereever the dipstick is in contact wit oil or any other types of liquids whatsoever.
Purthermore it is intended to magnetise level plugs or drain plugs in engines, gearboxes, tanks or wherever levels need to b maintained.
It could be that magnetism is controlled electrically or by the more conventional means.
Objects are to remove any small particles of swarf or foreign matter from the mechanism.
Specific embodiments of the invention will now be described by way of example drawings.
