Abstract
232,793. Viewers, Ltd., and Smith, R. L. May 16, 1924. Microscopes; optical-projection apparatus. - Microscopes of the inverted type consist of a steel block B having an axial hole to receive a microscope tube D of heavy section, the upper portion of the block B being faced at right angles to. the axis of the hole and grooved to receive the feet c of a tripod stage C. The block B rests on a rigid angle iron casing A covered with sheet metal and divided vertically by a partition a'. The object is illuminated by a lamp E through a condenser e and trough e<1> by means of the mirrors e<2>, d<1> or the mirrors e<3>, e<4> for transmitted light, and an enlarged image of the object is projected on a screen G in the sloping part of the casing A with the aid of a rustiess steel mirror F and a projection eye-piece d<2>. Focusing is effected by a nut d' on the upper end of the microscope tube D. When the upper end of the block B is used as the stage the focusing nut is at the lower end of the tube. At the side of the screen G may be placed a photo-micro transparency of a standard specimen for comparison. Direct vision is obtained by an eye-piece tube J fitted with a mirror.
