A high pass filter can be included and can comprise a capacitor which may be a printed conductor structure.
Description
2327814 ANTI-THEFT SYSTEM The invention relates to an anti-theft system,
and in particular to a remotely operable anti-theft system for a motor vehicle.
A remotely operable anti-theft system requires an antenna in order to be able to receive signals of a remote control device. A user locks and unlocks the doors of a motor vehicle having a remotely operable antitheft system fitted in the interior of a motor vehicle with such a remote control device. Frequently a throw-out antenna, that is, a wire antenna, is used as a receiving antenna. This antenna must be connected to the control device of the anti-theft system by means of a special plug and be laid in a cable harness by hand.
An anti-theft device for a motor vehicle is known from German Patent Specification DE 195 37 609 Cl, in which the radio antenna of a car radio, that is present anyway, is used as a receiving antenna. Here as well it is necessary to lay a connecting cable between the antenna or the car radio and the anti-theft device and to connect it to the control device.
it is known, furthermore, that an antenna can be realized on a printedcircuit board that has a printed conductor structure. A comparatively large area is of course used up as a result and this is undesirable in view of the general demand for control devices which are as compact as possible.
The present invention seeks to provide a novel anti-theft system, and in particular a remotely operable anti-theft system for motor vehicles which has a compact control device that can be fitted in a motor vehicle with little outlay in terms of assembly.
According to the present invention, there is provided an anti-theft system which has a control device, having a receiver unit and an evaluating unit is for evaluation of a signal which is received by the receiver unit, and a power supply line which acts as the antenna of the receiver unit.
The invention also relates to a motor vehicle fitted with the anti-theft system of the invention.
Advantageous further developments are set out in the subclaims.
Dispensing with an explicit or separately designed antenna enables the control device to be constructed in a compact manner whilst simultaneously cutting down on a number of steps of operation to fit the anti-theft system to the motor vehicle. It is not necessary to connect a throw-out antenna to the control device nor is it necessary to install said antenna in the motor vehicle.
It is possible to use as an antenna not only a power supply line which is connected to the vehicle frame, but also a power supply line which is connected to an operating voltage.
In a preferred embodiment, a high-pass filter for connection of the power supply line is designed as a printed conductor structure. The high pass filter may advantageously be designed as a comb filter. it is therefore possible to dispense with a discrete component.
For a better understanding of the present invention, and to show how it may be brought into effect, reference will now be made, by way of example, to the accompanying drawings which show a control device of a remotely operable anti-theft system for motor vehicles.
A control device 1 is connected to the power supply of a motor vehicle by way of supply lines 2. one supply line is connected to the vehicle frame and the other supply line is connected to a positive operating voltage. The control device has a receiver is unit 11 which demodulates a received high-frequency signal and transposes it to the baseband.
An antenna input ill of the receiver unit 11 is connected, by way of a capacitor C, to the frame of the control device 1 which, in turn, is connected by way of a supply line 2 to the vehicle frame. The antenna input 111 can be connected to the frame by means of a soldered connection when soldering the control device. A plug for the purpose of connecting an antenna to the control device is not required. Instead of being connected to the frame, the antenna input could also be connected to the positive or negative potential of the power supply.
The capacitor C acts as a high-pass filter and blocks any d.c. component, which might be present, from the antenna input 111.
The receiver unit 11 is connected to the evaluating unit 12. The evaluating unit 12 is realized as a microprocessor.
A user outside the vehicle transmits signals to lock or unlock the vehicle doors by means of a remote control 3. Usual carrier frequencies of the signals are 868 MHz, 433.92 MHz and 315 MHz. The signals are intercepted by the supply lines 2 which are guided in a cable harness to the control device 1. The antenna input ill is supplied with the signal of the remote control by way of a connection with the frame. The capacitor C, which advantageously has a value of between 3 and 20 pf, establishes the connection between the antenna input ill and the frame of the control device 1. The capacitor is realized as a surface mounted device (SMD) and thus, as an inexpensive component which can easily be supplied, is particularly well suited for mass production.
In the receiver unit 11 the high-frequency signal (carrier), which is received, is amplified and subsequently demodulated. A signal, which can be evaluated by the evaluating unit 12 (microprocessor), is output at the output of the receiver unit 11. The signals are sequential digital signals which can also be easily reconstructed by the receiver unit given a low signal-to- noise ratio.
The useful signal thus obtained is transmitted to the evaluating unit 12. If the latter recognizes the signal pattern of the signals received, it initiates actuation of the locking/unlocking mechanism of the vehicle and, if applicable, activates an immobilizer or an alarm system or switches them off. In addition, the evaluating unit 12 can output an audible or visual check-back signal with respect to the locking state, in particular by triggering a horn or an indicator.
By means of the invention it is possible to economize by dispensing with an antenna cable that has an appropriate special plug for insertion at the receiver unit. The system according to the invention functions in a very reliable manner on account of the usually comparatively long supply lines between the control device and the power supply inside the vehicle.
