Abstract

The reusable masking cover 1 shields selected areas of a vehicle's body from over spray during a finishing process. The cover has seams 2 fastened with, for example, zips so that sections of the cover can be removed or folded back to expose the areas 3 of the vehicle body to be sprayed. The seams are arranged so that they correspond to the shapes and arrangement of the vehicle body panels. Conventional masking can be used to fine mask the edges of the area to be finished. Before sections of the cover are folded back or removed the cover completely shields the body area of the vehicle.

Description

VEHICLE MASKING COVER This invention relates to a reusable vehicle masking cover for selectively masking a vehicle to protect external areas of the vehicle from overspray during the refinishing process.
According to the present invention the vehicle masking cover comprises of a vehicle cover incorporating fastened seams which permit sections of the cover to be removed or folded back to expose areas of the vehicle body for refinishing. The seams within the vehicle masking cover are arranged such that the areas of the vehicle masking cover defined by the seams, approximately match the shapes and arrangement of the vehicle body panels.
The seams within the vehicle masking cover are fitted with a fastening system (e.g. zips ) to allow them to be open or closed.
A specific embodiment of the invention will now be described by way of example with reference to the accompanying drawings: Figure 1 shows in perspective the vehicle masking cover placed over the vehicle with selected areas of the vehicle body exposed.
Referring to the Figures 1 and 2 the vehicle masking cover (1) is placed over the vehicle requiring refinishing work. Selected seams (2) within the vehicle masking cover are opened to allow a section or sections of the cover to be removed or folded back such that the area or areas (3) of the vehicle requiring refinishing are exposed. Conventional masking materials can be used to fine mask the edges of the vehicle masking cover.

Claims (3)

1 A vehicle masking cover which when placed over a vehicle will completely cover the entire body area of the vehicle. The vehicle masking cover is comprised of fastened seams allowing sections of the vehicle masking cover to be folded back or removed such that selected areas of the vehicle body can be exposed for refinishing.
2 A vehicle masking cover as claimed in Claim 1, wherein numerous fastened seams are incorporated such that the areas of vehicle masking cover defined by the seams approximately match the shapes and arrangement of vehicle body panels.
3 A vehicle masking cover substantially as described herein with reference to Figures 1 and 2 in the accompanying drawings.
