Abstract

A supplementary electric shower heater B, that can supply over 3 kwatts of heating power, is used to assist the main electric shower heater A in heating the shower water of a domestic electric shower. In doing so it allows much greater water pressure at a higher temperature to be supplied at the shower head. It is powered from the 13 amp household supply. The supplementary heater can be installed virtually anywhere within the shower water system, either retro fitted or designed in. It may be upstream, downstream (fig 4) or in the same casing (Fig 3) as the main electric heater A, which is powered from a 30 amp circuit.

Description

SHOWER HEATER This invention relates to a supplementary electric shower heater.
Electric showers are well known and widely used.
Electric showers, however, that use standard house wiring, 30 amp circuits, are limited to 7.5 kwatts of power and this is not always enough to heat the cold inlet water sufficiently to give a reasonable temperature shower at a reasonable pressure.
This invention is a supplementary heater, powered from a standard 13 amp household circuit giving a further possible heating power in excess of 3 kwatts. To assist the main shower heater.
The supplementary shower heater can be fitted in the main cold water inlet or anywhere between the shower cold water inlet and the shower head.
The supplementary shower heater can be retro fitted or designed into a new shower system.
The invention is described with reference to the following drawings.
Figure 1 shows a typical standard shower heater A and stat pressure switch C.
Figure 2 shows one way of installing the supplementary heater B with its stat and switch D into the standard system.
Figure 3 & 4 show two methods that a supplementary shower heater system could be installed. Figure 3 installed in the main heater tank. Figure 4 installed in its own heating tank.

Claims (4)

  1. A A supplementary electric shower heater consisting of a heating element powered from the standard 13 amp household mains supply and incorporated within a household shower system to supplement the main heater in the heating of the shower water.
  2. 2 A supplementary electric shower heater as claimed in Claim 1, fitted intemally or extemally of the main shower case / cabinet.
  3. 3 A supplementary electric shower heater as claimed in Claim 1 and Claim 2 either retro fitted to the shower or designed into a new shower system.
  4. 4 A supplementary electric shower heater as claimed in any previous claim wherein it is used other than the major source of heating the shower water.
