Abstract

The invention relates to an amusement machine of the coin pusher type in which the user attempts to obtain a pay out of coins. The machine comprises a playfield (3) which has a flat horizontal upper surface defined by a peripheral edge (4) and is adapted in use to support coins (5). The playfield (3) is rotatable about a substantially vertical axis. A coin pusher (8) is positioned above and adjacent to the upper surface of the playfield (3). The coin pusher is either capable of reciprocating in a radial direction relative to the vertical axis of rotation of the playfield, or alternatively, the coin pusher (8) has a peripheral coin-pushing edge which is shaped or positioned so that rotation of the playfield (3) relative to the coin pusher (8) will cause the distribution of coins (5) on the playfield surface to be disturbed. Accordingly, some coins (5) may he pushed over the edge (4) of the playfield (3). The coin pusher (8) may he fixed in position, so that rotation about a vertical axis is prevented and movement of the playfield (3) relative to the coin pusher (8) is caused entirely by the rotation of the playfield (3). Alternatively, the coin pusher (8) may also rotate about a vertical axis. For example, the coin pusher (8) may be rotatable about the same or a different vertical axis as the playfield (3).
