Abstract

231,670. Nisbet, R. F., and Morren, J. April 9, 1924. Framing; planking.-A boat is framed with closely-spaced stringers 4 associated with widelyspaced transverse frames which may consist of a wooden or metal floor plate 5<a>, and end floor brackets 5<b>, secured together by fish plates 7. The transverse frames may be arranged under each thwart 6. The skin planking which is secured to the fore-and-aft timbers 4 and to the top strake 18 comprises inner and outer planks secured with their joints in staggered relation. The skin planks 11, 12, fore of the midship section are inclined in the opposite direction to the planks aft of that section, and, for this purpose, each plank may taper slightly towards the keel 9.
