Abstract

The paint roller cleaner has a main body (1) in the form of a cylinder, it is designed to clean paint rollers quickly, cleanly and to save water by way of the spray bar, forcing water at an angle on to the roller causing it to spin at speed, expelling the paint from the roller out through the base. The handle of the roller is held against a horizontal bar (9) by a stabilizer (6) on the lid and a stabilizer (4) on the main body.

Description

PAINT ROLLER CLEANER.
This invention relates to a paint roller cleaner.
The paint roller cleaner is a new invention designed to clean a paint roller quickly, cleanly and saves water.
It is connected to a cold water supply.
It comprises of a main cylinder body, a lid and a spray bar.
The spray bar is fixed along the main body, into a open cut channel and fixed at either end enabling the spray bar to move from left to right manually.
The lid locks the paint roller arm into the correct position for the water pressure to spin the roller at speed.
The paint roller cleaner cleans a roller in two minutes, using aproximately four and a half gallons of water.
Normal cleaning of a paint roller takes a person an average of ten minutes and uses around nine gallons of water, based on a nine inch roller.
Many people leave rollers under a running tap for long periods using large amounts of water.
Size variations of the roller cleaner would be needed to conserve water.
A fixing variation is required for a twelve inch profession roller cleaner as shown in figure (3).
Size variations for standard paint rollers 7", 8" and 9" would be made as in figure (1).
ExamPles of designs are as follows Fig 1. (a) Shows the body, spray bar and lid of standard paint roller cleaner.
(b) Shows cross section of paint roller cleaner with roller inside, showing water in and out.
Fig 2. Illustrates top end view how the roller is forced around by water pressure, by moving the spray bar to the left or right.
Fig 3. (a) Shows the variation required to clean a twelve inch professional detachable roller which has a removable centre bar on which the paint roller revolves, fastened directly into the lid and into housing made at the base of cylinder.
(b) Housing shown looking down through cylinder.
The lid (3) locks the roller in the correct position held by stabilizers (6) moulded to the lid, and handle stabilizer (4) on the outside of main body.
The lid stops any water spraying upwards.
The variation to accommodate a twelve inch professional roller (fig 3 (a) shows the lid (7) with drilled hole and holder (8) at base of cylinder in Fig 3 (a) which hold the centre bar on a twelve inch roller.
The main body (1) collects the water expelled by the paint roller and allows the water to leave through the open ended bottom.
The spray bar (2) is fixed to the main body by brackets, (5) enabling the spray bar to be moved from left to right manually.
The paint roller is supported internally by the horizonal bar (9) fix across main body.
