Description

Headrest Covers The present invention relates to headrest covers, and particularly but not exclusively to headrest covers for vehicles.
Seats in vehicles often comprise a headrest portion, which may either be integrally formed with the back of the seat, or may be removably attached to the back of the seat.
The principal purpose of a headrest is to support the head of a person reclining in the seat. Headrests are thus prone to soiling from people's hair, and it is one object of this present invention to obviate or mitigate this problem.
Further, people who support particular activities or organisations, such as sporting teams and clubs often wish to signify their support by adorning themselves and their property, such as their motor vehicle, with representations of the particular sporting team or dub. However adorning a vehide with temporary representations that can be quickly and effectively removed is a well recognised problem. Conventionally supporters tend to place stickers on their vehicle windows which often prove difficult to remove without leaving unwanted marks. Alternatively supporters mount a team scarf through a window by damping the scarf between the window and the window frame. This however suffers from the drawback of the scarf being vulnerable to be stolen when the vehide is stationary and also to escape from being clamped when the vehicle is moving.
It is a further object of the present invention to provide a further means for adorning a vehicle with means signifying support of a particular activity, organisation or the like.
According to the present invention there is provided a cover for a headrest of a seat, the cover being so as to represent a shirt.
Preferably the cover locates over the headrest portion to protect the headrest from soiling.
Preferably the cover represents a shirt relating to a particular organisation, activity or the like, such as a sporting team. The cover may represent a shirt of a football club, cricket club, rugby club, basketball club, American football dub and the like.
The cover may represent a shirt of a regional or national sporting team.
Preferably the cover is generally in the shape of a shirt, with a portion representing a body portion of a shirt locatable over the headrest portion to provide said protection and desirably further portions representing sleeves on each side thereof and preferably also a portion representing a shirt collar, are provided.
Preferably the cover is removably locatable over a seat headrest portion, and desirably a headrest portion of a vehicle seat.
The cover may bear a logo or other means representative of the particular organisation, activity, team etc. The cover is preferably of appropriate colour(s) to provide the desired representation.
Alternatively or additionally the cover may comprise promotional and/or informational material thereon.
An embodiment of the present invention will now be described by way of example only, with reference to the accompanying drawings, in which: Fig. 1 shows a cover according to the present invention; and Fig. 2 shows the cover if in Fig. 1 in position for use on a headrest portion of a seat.
Referring to the drawings, the invention provides a cover 10 for the head rest H of a seat S, the cover 10 being so shaped to be locatable over the headrest H of a seat S to protect the headrest H and to represent a shirt.
In more detail, the cover 10 is generally of a shape and design representing a sporting shirt. The cover 10 comprises a body portion 12 locatable over and around the headrest H to substantially cover the headrest H (Fig. 2) to protect the headrest H from soiling.
Sleeve portions 14 are provided on respective sides 16 of the body portion 12, to represent the sleeves of the shirt. A collar portion 18 is provided on the in-use upper end 20 of the body portion 12 to represent the collar of a shirt.
The cover 10 can represent a shirt indicative of a particular organisation, activity or the like. In particular, the shirt may resemble the shirt of a particular sporting team, such as a football, cricket, rugby, basketball, American football club and the like. Alternatively it could resemble a shirt used in relation to any other particular activity or organisation.
Emblems, such as team emblems representatively shown at 22 in Fig. 1 are provided on the cover 10 as necessary such that the cover 10 provides an accurate representation of a particular shirt. The cover is likewise appropriate coloured to represent for example team colours.
The cover 10 can be made of washable fabric, or alternatively may be of disposable material such as paper.
In use, the cover 10 is located over a headrest H of a seat S either when protection of the headrest particularly from soiling is required, and/or when it is desired to signify a person's support for a particular sporting team or club etc. For example, it is envisaged that the invention would be located over a headrest H when sporting fans are travelling to a venue to see their team play.
The cover 10 is slidingly located down around the headrest H until in position as shown in Fig. 2. In this position, the cover 10 resembles a sporting team shirt, and whilst being attractive and signifying support of the team, also provides cover of the headrest H against soIling. It will be apparent that the cover 10 is readily removable either when not wanted or to be washed. The invention also has the added advantage of being safely contained in the vehicle and thereby less prone to damage or theft.
Whilst endeavouring in the foregoing specification to draw attention to those features of the invention believed to be of particular importance it should be understood that the Applicant claims protection in respect of any patentable feature or combination of features hereinbefore referred to and/or shown in the drawings whether or not particular emphasis has been placed thereon.
