Abstract
A detachable neckrest has a cylindrical stuffed body 1 with a longitudinal opening closed by a sliding fastener 13 and straps by which it is fastened to the back of a chair or seat (eg for a vehicle). The strap may encircle the chair, as shown, or individual straps (Fig 3) may attach to the chair via hook-and-loop fasteners.
Description
TITLE: DETACHABLE NECKREST FOR CHAIRS
This invention relates to a detachable neckrest for fastening to the back of a chair for supporting the neck.
While sitting in one seat in a car, ship, airplane, etc., one may rest the head on the back or the headrest of the back of the seat. However, because the headrest of the back of a regular motor vehicle's seat is designed for supporting the back of the head only, the neck is suspended from the headrest of the back of the seat.
Therefore, one's neck will become uncomfortable quickly after the head is rested on the headrest of the back of the seat.
This invention relates to a detachable neckrest for fastening to the back of a chair for supporting the neck.
It is the prime object of the present invention to provide a detachable neckrest which can be conveniently fastened to the back of a seat to support the neck. It is another object of the present invention to provide a detachable neckrest which can be fastened to any of a variety of motor vehicle's seats.
According to one embodiment of the present invention, the detachable neckrest comprises a cylindrical neckrest body stuffed with a soft stuffing and having along itudinal opening closed by a zip fastener, and strap means fixedly secured to the cylindrical neckrest body along its length for fastening it to the back of a chair or the like for the resting of the neck. According to another embodiment of the present invention, the strap means is bilaterally and perpendicularly fastened to the cylindrical neckrest body, having length adjusting fastening means for adjusting its length, and loop and hook material for fastening to the back of a chair or the like.
Other objects of the invention will in part be obvious and in part hereinafter pointed out.
The invention accordingly consists of features of constructions and method, combination of elements, arrangement of parts and steps of the method which will be exemplified in the constructions and method hereinafter disclosed, the scope of the application of which will be indicated in the claims following.
FIG. 1 is an elevational view of a detachable neckrest according to the present invention;
FIG. 2 shows the detachable neckrest of Figure 1 installed in a chair;
FIG. 3 shows an alternate form of the detachable neckrest according to the present invention; and
FIG. 4 shows the detachable neckrest of Figure 3 installed in a chair.
For purpose of promoting an understanding of the principles of the invention, reference will now be made to the embodiment illustrated in the drawings. Specific language will be used to describe same. It will, nevertheless, be understood that no limitation of the scope of the invention is thereby intended, such alternations and further modifications in the illustrated device, and such further applications of the principles of the invention as illustrated herein being contemplated as would normally occur to one skilled in the art to which the invention relates.
Referring to Figure 1, a detachable neckrest in accordance with the present invention is generally comprised of a neckrest 1, and a strap means 2. The neckrest 1 comprises a cylindrical body 11 stuffed with a soft stuffing 12, for example, feathers, down, sponge, or foamed plastic, and having a longitudinal opening (not shown) closed by a zip fastener 13. The strap means 2 is fastened to the cylindrical body 11 along its length, having a buckle 21 for joining the ends thereof.
Referring to Figure 2, the detachable neckrest can be conveniently installed in a chair for example the driver's seat and attached to its back 31 adjacent to its headrest 32 for supporting the back of the neck by the strap means 2. When the user sits in the chair with the head rested on the headrest 12, the neck is supported on the neckrest 1 comfortably.
Referring to Figures 3 and 4, as an alternate form of the present invention, the strap means 2 is bilaterally and perpendicularly fastened to the cylindrical body 11 of the neckrest 1, having length adjusting fastening means 22A for adjusting its length, and loop and hook material 21A for fastening to the back 31 of a chair.
It will be understood that the drawings are designed for purposes of illustration only, and are not intended as a definition of the limits and scope of the invention disclosed.
The invention is naturally not limited in any sense to the particular features specified in the forgoing or to the details of the particular embodiment which has been chosen in order to illustrate the invention.
Consideration can be given to all kinds of variants of the particular embodiment which has been described by way of example and of its constituent elements without thereby departing from the scope of the invention. This invention accordingly includes all the means constituting technical equivalents of the means described as well as their combinations.
