Abstract

230,697. Lissa, O. L. de, and Freezone, Ltd. July 4, 1924. Universal joints and like couplings.-In packing for the rotating shafts of turbines and pumps &c., applicable also for the gear boxes and axles of motor vehicles, a disc D is interposed between shafts s, s<1>, one of which is a driving and the other a driven shaft. The disc is coupled to the shaft s by a member 16, formed with ribs 17, 18, at rightangles, engaging slots in the hub of the disc D and the end of the shaft s. A rib 27 on the disc engages a slot in a disc 25 having lugs engaging slots in the periphery of a cup 21 on the end of the shaft s<1>. The disc D is pressed towards the stationary surface by a spring 28. The Provisional Specification describes also a modification in which the disc D is integral with the shaft S.
