Abstract
A folding wardrobe has a hinged frame, base, top, hanging rail and material covering for the back, front, sides and top. When not in use or for transport the covering can be removed and the main frame folded flat. A number of covers may be made for the wardrobe to change appearance to suit the decoration of a particular room.
Description
FOLDING WARDROBE
1. This invention relates to a folding wardrobe with material cover.
2. Wardrobes are normally of rigid construction occupying a given amount of space regardless of whether in use or not. By virtue of their size they are difficult for suppliers to store and transport and for users to manoeuvre around the house. Those that are supplied flat packed can only be assembled with a screwdriver and practical skills.
3. With the present invention there is provided a folding frame about which is tied a material cover and top. This cover and top can be taken off for cleaning or swapped for another material to suit the decorations in the room.
4. A specific embodiment of the invention will now be described by way of example with reference to the accompanying page of photographs.
Photograph 1 shows the folded frame with base and folded cover.
Photograph 2 shows the frame in process of erection.
Photograph 3 shows the hinged triangular roof pieces and hanging
rail in position with the material sides and top still folded on the
base board.
Photograph 4 shows the material sides being tied to the upper
horizontal portion of the erected frame.
Photograph 5 shows the material sides and top in position. The
front flaps are opened to show the frame inside.
Photograph 6 shows the finished wardrobe, the front flaps may be
tied shut or open if desired.
Claims (9)
1 .A folding Wardrobe comprising a hinged frame, baseboard, 2 no.
hinged triangular roof pieces and hinged hanging rail assembly. The erected frame is then fitted with a material cover and top.
2. A folding wardrobe as claimed in Claim 1 wherein pivots centrally located on the vertical members permit the two main rectangular frames to hinge.
3. A folding wardrobe as claimed in Claim 1 wherein a restraining cord limits the amount by which the two main rectangular frames may scissor hinge in relation to one another.
4. A folding wardrobe as claimed in Claim 1 wherein two triangular pieces, hinged at their bottom edge with the top edge of tyhe two rectangular frames.
5. A folding wardrobe as claimed in Claim 1 wherein an H shaped frame is hinged off the upper rear portion of the main vertical rectangular frame such that when pivoted forwards and clipped into position a rigid frame and horizontal clothes hanging bar is formed.
6. A folding wardrobe as claimed in Claim 1 wherein a material piece with ties attached to its upper edge may be attached by the said ties to the frame as described using holes appropriately cut into the upper portion of the frame.
7. A folding wardrobe as claimed in Claim 1 wherein a material top shaped as a pitched roof can be placed over the upper portion of the frame.
8. A folding wardrobe as claimed in Claim 1 wherein a baseboard with 2 no. attached locating battens is placed over the horizontal members of the earlier described two pivoting main frames. This board limits the ability of the two frames to move further apart in use than is desired.
9. A folding wardrobe as described herein with reference to Photographs 1-6 on the accompanying page of photographs and with reference to the explanatory drawing.
