Abstract
A golf stance aid comprises four pivoted framework members 1-4 which may be moved as a parallelogram with a further member 5 of variable length which remains perpendicular to the members 1,2. Ball, club and feet positions E,F & G are also indicted in the figure.
Description
The Golf Alignment Master
This invention relates to a golf practice aide for use on a grassed practice area, driving range mat or the practice putting area
Backgound
One of the most important principles in golf is that square alignment at the address position is essential and should be maintained whilst swinging a golf club. The feet and clubhead should be square and parallel to the target and this principle applies when using the flill range of golf
clubs, from driving woods to irons including the putter. Another important factor is that the position of the golfball and the club vary in relation to the feet according to which club is being used.
Description
To achieve the square alignment the club, ball and feet position is illustrated by the accompanying drawing. The solid lines indicate the fixed position and the broken line shows how it can be moved to suit different persons and clubs. Referring to the accompanying drawing it's usage and flexibility is illustrated as follows: Items 1.2.3 & 4- These are constructed of narrow, thin strips of polypropylene bar or other suitable material of thickness, size and colour to be determined.
Sides 1 and 2 are joined to items 3 and 4 by means of a swivel fixing yet to be determined, indicated by items A,B,C & D. This will keep items 1 and 2 parallel at all times, enabling adjustment to meet each individual players and clubs requirements.
Item 5
This is constructed of a similar suitable material which will be capable of clipping (or snapping) onto sides 1 and 2. In the centre of the bar will be an adjustable slide fixing which will adjust according to the individuals requirements, vary in length yet maintain a square 90 degree position on bars 1 and 2.
Item 5 is the guide for positioning the golf club and ball in relation to the players feet.
Items 6.7.8 & 9
These are holes in items 1 and 2 serving as a method of fixing the device securely to the ground (if required) and can be achieved by using four golf tees or similar device.
Item E
Indicates the golf ball.
Item F
Indicates the golf club head position.
Items G
Indicate the feet position
Claims (6)
1. The device will ensure that the user will always maintain square alignment at the
address position.
2. The device will ensure that feet and clubhead will always be parallel at address.
3. It is filly adjustable for individual requirements, yet always maintains the features
listed in 1 and 2 above.
4. The device is collapsible, closing sides 1 and 2 together making it easy to transport,
being constructed of a lightweight material.
5. It can be used by both left and right handed golfers.
6. It eliminates the guesswork in making accurate alignment every time, unlike the
present hit and miss method of lining two golf clubs in parallel and using them as a
guide.
