Abstract
A pair of spectacles comprises a frame 16 and two circular magnetic members 20, each of which is secured to and wholly within a nose support 18. The nose support is releasably connected to the frame by an engagement means which may comprise the magnetic members. The magnetic flux density of the magnetic members is between 1,200 and 2,300 gauss. When the pair of spectacles is worn by a user, each magnetic member is arranged to be positioned above an acupuncture point on the nose bridge area of the user.
Description
A Pair of Spectacles
This invention relates to a pair of spectacles and in particular. a pair of spectacles containing a magnetic member.
It is commonly recognized that people who wear spectacles usually experience an eye strain problem and it is therefore uncomfortable to wear the spectacles for a relatively long period of time. These problems arc caused by the fact that tlie nose bridge area of the uscr bears most of the weight of the spectacle and this hinders or blocks blood circulation in the nose bridge arca.
It is therefore an object of the present invention to provide a pair of spectacles in which the above problems are mitigated.
According to the present invemion, there is provided a pair of spectacles comprising a fralne member and at least one magnetic member.
Convenicntly, the magnetic member may be provided by a nose support member.
Advantageously, the pair of spectacles may comprise two nose support mcmbcrs cach providing a magnetic member.
Conveniently, the magnetic member may be sccured to or substantially wholly within the jiose support membcr.
The nose support member may advantageously be releasably engageahle with the frame member by an engagement means comprising the magnetic member.
The magnetic flux density of the magnctic member may advantagcously be between 1,200 and 2,300 gauss.
Conveniently. when the pair of spectacles is worn by a user, the or each magnetic member may be arranged to be positioned above an acupuncture point on the nose bridge area of the user.
Advamagcoulsy. the magnetic member may be substantially circular in cross section.
The invention will now be described in more detail by way of example wilh reference to the accompanying drawing. Fig. 1.
Fig. I shows a perspective view of a pair of spectacles 10 according to the present invemion comprising a pair of plastic or glass lenses 12 received by a pair of glass.
receiving members 14 of a spec@acle frame 16 made of plastics and/or non-magnctic mctals/alloys. To the inner side of each of the glass-receiving members 14 is releasahly secured, e.g. Içy a scrcw, a nose support element 18 embedded with a circular magnet 20 made of a material producing a magnctic field. The magnc@s 20 are of a magnetic flux density of between 1,200 and 2,300 gauss. Preferably, the magnetic flux density of vile magnet is between 1,400 and 2,000 gauss; more preferahly helwcen 1,600 and 1 800 gauss. The magnets 20 are substantially wholly embedded in the nose support element 18 so that the user will not be hurt when cleaning the nose support elements 18. The magnets 20 are so disposed in the nose support elements 18 that when it is worn by a user, the magnets 20 are positioned above two symmetry acupuncture points in the nose bridge area of the user.
The presence of magnets 20 in the pair of spectacles 10 are capable of stimulating the user's nervous system and improving blood circulation such that the problem of eye strain can be mitigated or prevented.
While Fig. 1 shows that the magnets 20 are distinct from the engagement arrangements for releasably securing the nose support element 18 to the spectacle frame 16, it is possible to so construct the engagement arrangements that the engagement elements 22 are made of a material producing a magnetic field and thus perform the function of magnets 20. Such an arrangement will enhance the appearance of the spectacles while providing the advantages of the present invention.
