Abstract

A locking mechanism 1 for a shoot bolt assembly comprising a housing 5, a dead bolt 17 slidably mounted in the housing 5 for motion in a first direction, a pair of rods 19,21 slidably mounted in the housing 5 for motion in directions substantially perpendicular to the first direction and drive means 31,33,35 interacting with the rods 19,21 for moving the rods 19,21 to active positions for locking, wherein as the rods 19,21 are moved into their active positions the dead bolts 17 are driven by the rods 19,21 by means of a pin and slot actuating mechanism into an extended position for additional locking.
