Abstract

A demountable splash guard, for a domestic cement mixer, comprises an acrylic sheet with half a pair of flap hinges attached to the top of the sheet by bolts. These half hinges engage with a complimentary half pair of flap hinges connected by bolts to a guard support frame. The support frame consists of a length of mild steel strip formed into a 'U' shape and attached to the mixer by a pair of saddle clamps on each limb of the 'U'. These saddle clamps are fabricated from mild steel strip and are formed with a radius to allow clamping, via bolts, to the mixer. The hinges permit the guard to be rotated through 270 deg, for loading/unloading, and to be totally removed for cleaning and/or transport. <IMAGE>

DESCRIPTION ANTI SPLASH GUARD THE SPLASH GUARD CONSISTS OF 2 COMPONENT ITEMS, a) THE SHIELD b) THE SHIELD SUPPORT FRAME, AS DETAILED ON DRAWING No 3/5 THE SHIELD CONSISTS OF A PIECE OF CLEAR ACBYLIC SHEET, ATTACHED TO THE TOP FACE OF THE SHEET VIA 6No BOLTS ARE 2No HALVES OF A PAIR OF 4" FLAP HINGES THE SHIELD SUPPORT FRAME CONSISTS OF A LENGTH OF 5x25 MILD STEEL STRIP, FORMED IN TO A WU SHAPE AS DETAILED ON DRAWING 1/5 THE LEADING FACE OF THE SUPPORT FRAME HAS THE SECOND HALF OF THE PAIR OF FLAP HINGES ATTACHED VIA 6No BOLTS WITH THE KNUCKLE UPPERMOST THE SUPPORT FRAME IS ATTACHED TO THE MIXER FRAME VIA 2 SADDLE CLIPS.
THE SADDLE CLIPS ARE FABRICATED FROM 3x25 FLAT MILD STEEL STRIP, EACH APPROXIMATELY 200mm LONG AND ATTACHED TO THE END OF THE SUPPORT FRAME VIA 4No BOLTS EACH.
THE CENTRE OF EACH SADDLE IS FORMED TO A 20 RADIUS TO ALLOW CLAMPING OF SUPPORT FRAME TO MIXER AS DETAILED ON DRAWING 4/5

CLAIMS 1) A DEMOUNTABLE SHIELD AND ASSOCIATED SUPPORT FRAME WHICH PREVENTS SPLATTER OF MIXING MATERIALS FROM THE DRUM OF A DOMESTIC CEMENT MIXER WHILST IN USE 2) A DEMOUNTABLE SHIELD AS CLAIMED IN CLAIM 1 WHICH CAN BE ROTATED THROUGH 270 DEGREES TO ALLOW FOR MIXER LOADING 3) A DEMOUNTABLE SHIELD AS CLAIMED IN CLAIM 2 WHICH CAN BE TOTALLY REMOVED FROM ASSOCIATED SUPPORT FRAME FOR EASE OF CLEANING / TRANSPORT WHEN REQUIRED 4) A DEMOUNTABLE SUPPORT FRAME AS CLAIMED IN CLAIM 1 FOR ATTACHMENT TO DOMESTIC CEMENT MIXER FRAME WORK 5) A DEMOUNTABLE SADDLE CONNECTION FOR ATTACHING SUPPORT FRAME AS CLAIMED IN CLAIM 4 TO CEMENT MIXER FRAME
