Abstract
A net 1 mountable by suitable means inside a football goalmouth 3, 4 has bands B, C of non-elastic tape which divide it into areas D which may be used as specific target areas. The size of each area may be different for different skill levels. <IMAGE>
Description
FOOTBALL GOAL KICKING TRAINING NET
This invention relates to a net similar to a football goal mouth net but mounted closer to the uprights and with additional wide band markings and symbols that divide the net in to easily identifiable areas, the areas can be varied, and allow the ball player, player/coach to practice target shooting, kicking of the ball into the selected net area to improve kicking accuracy.
Designed for use in schools and football clubs world-wide and sold as a separate item in a simple container.
Description.
This football training net 1, as shown on the only attached drawing sheet 1 (1/1), is designed to be erected within the goal mouth area and in line and between the goal post uprights 3 and is fixed to and hangs under the cross bar 4 using string ties, in this position, the net is intended for use without a goalkeeper.
Figure 1 on sheet 1, shows a full front view of the goal mouth, fig. 2 shows a plan view, fig. 3 shows an end view and finally fig. 4 shows an illustration of how the area divisions and markings can be achieved.
The net can be positioned a limited and variable distance in to the goal mouth area to allow a goal keeper to perform his duties of defending the whole area, the left and right ends of the net are held towards the post uprights by elasticated straps 7 keeping the net 1 under tension to ensure that the area identification symbols and wide band tapes B and C can be easily seen, each end of the net on the right and left sides are attached to the post uprights 3 as shown at 8 using string ties similar to all attachments.
The additional horizontal B and vertical C wide band markings are made of non-elastic tape all except the horizontal tape at each end which lies between the post uprights and the first vertical band, this part of the tape is elastic to ensure it lies horizontally and is easily identifiable by the ball players from different angles.
Football goal kicking training net.
That part of the net that lies horizontally along the ground is tied with string to a strong cord that runs parallel to the cross bar and along the ground and continues with the net up to the last vertical wide band then onto a small section vertical post 6 where it is again tied thus holding the net taught along the ground. A similar cord is also attached to the top of the vertical part of the net with the cord tensioned between the backward facing posts 5 or similar supports, the remaining part of the top of the net turns towards and is tied to the cross bar 4.
The elastic tapes at the ends of the net at each end near the uprights 3 are again tied to the small section vertical bar 6 which in turn is secured to the top rear facing bar 5 and into a holder that is pegged in to the ground, this small section bar 6 lies parallel to the upright at a variable distance from the upright and are made of wood or other material or so designed to collapse if struck by a player or goalkeeper to ensure no physical injury.
The normal football net 2 if one exists, can be left in position while the training net 1 is in use or removed. Fig 4 sheet 1 is an illustration of how such a net can be so divided in to easily identifiable numbers either left or right of the centre line shown at E fig.l. In this illustration, the arrow W fig. 4 points to the number 12 which would be described to the player as "twelve right", the centre section that occupies similar space to a goal keeper is described as "the centre".
The area marking symbols are simply soft flexible symbols that are tied individually to the net which is made up as any football net 2 is made. The illustration at fig.4 sheet 1 is an example of a large number of target areas for the more professional footballer.
Claims (5)
- Football goal kicking training net.CLAIMS 1 An adaptable football net 1 with markings that define separate areas of the net and symbols which easily identify the defined areas. The defined target areas and symbols can readily be changed to suit any level of football expertise.
- 2 The net and defined areas have limited adjustment thus allowing the net to be positioned under the cross bar 4 and between the uprights 3 or set in to the goal mouth area a limited distance to allow a goal keeper to operate just in front of the training net 1.
- 3 The elastic straps 7 and tapes at each end ensure that the net 1 is taught between the uprights 3 thus allowing the symbols and areas easy recognition.
- 4 Two additional vertical poles 6 of smaller section than the uprights 3, carry the elastic straps 7 and are made of wood or other material or so designed to collapse if struck by a player or goalkeeper to ensure no physical injury.
- 5 The training net 1 itself is made of standard football goal mouth net with the additional parts tied to the net squares.
