Abstract

A fishing rod securing device has a body that can be locked onto a guard rail by means of retaining strap 3 and adjustable locking mechanism 6. The sides I-Left hand/Right hand and base 7 form a hollowed shape into which is placed a fishing rod. A securing strap 4 is fixed at one end by a retaining pin 2 located in side I-Right hand passed over the fishing rod and is locked into side I-Left hand by means of a securing pin 5. Movement of the fishing rod is restrained forwards sideways and up. Removal of the securing pin 5 enables free movement of the fishing rod in all directions. <IMAGE>

Description

FISHING ROD SECURING DEVICE This invention relates to a fishing rod securing device.
Fishing rods are well known to be susceptible to loss and/or damage if not secured when fishing from a pier or ship, but methods of securing fishing rods often inhibit the strike when a fish is hooked due to delays in releasing the rod from its restraint.
According to the present invention there is provided a fishing rod securing device which can be attached to a pier or ships guard rail that gives fast access to a secured rod. A fishing rod is located within the body walls of the securing device and held in position by means of a strap and securing pin. Removal of the securing pin frees the strap and the fishing rod.
A specific embodiment of the invention will now be described by way of example with reference to the accompanying drawing in which the fishing rod securing device is shown in perspective.
Referring to the drawing the securing device comprises a body in the form of two sides I -Left hand/Right hand assembled with a connecting arm at the base 7. Side I -Right hand has a retaining pin 2 inserted which retains one end of the securing strap 4. Side I -Left hand is drilled to accommodate a securing pin 5 which is threaded through the free end of the securing strap 4 when locking a rod in position. A retaining strap 3 secures the body to a guard rail by means of an adjustable locking mechanism.

Claims (4)

  1. I A fishing rod securing device which can be attached to a pier or ships guard rail that gives fast access to a secured rod. A fishing rod is located within the body walls of the securing device and held in position by means of a strap and securing pin. Removal of the securing pin frees the strap and the fishing rod.
  2. 2 A fishing rod securing device as claimed in claim I that allows a fishing rod to be located within the body and retained in position by a securing strap and securing pin.
  3. 3 A fishing rod securing device as claimed in claims I and 2 that allows the free movement of a secured fishing rod by removal of the securing pin.
  4. 4 A fishing rod securing device as claimed in claim I that may be attached to or removed from a guard rail by means of a retaining strap with an adjustable locking mechanism.
