Abstract
A cylindrical device incorporates a dual purpose internal heat dispersal unit to hold in place and assist, by means of heat conduction, the lighting of solid fuel. An insulated handle is fitted to the cylinder with an attached heat shield to ensure the safety of the user. <IMAGE>
Description
SOLID FUEL IIGSTER This invention relates to a solid fuel lighter.
other means of lighting solid fuel are well known and include such as electrical and gas powered devices, chemically concentrated blocks and liquid fuel.
Such alternatives tend to be fixed in position or result in additional hazard to the environment. All do nothing to prevent or reduce the usual dirty job of laying and lighting solid fuel.
The solid fuel lighter as described below is a simple construction of a netal chamber, internal heat dispersal unit and insulated handle. Together they form a portable device capable of igniting solid fuel e.g Coal, Coke and charcoal.
A specific embodiment of the invention will now be described by way of example with reference to the accoEpanying drawing in which :
Figure 1 shows the device featured fran the handle side view.
Figure 2 shows the opposite side view to figure 1.
Figure 3 shows side profile
Figure 4 shows a cut away side view including the heat
dispersal unit.
Figure 5 shows top view of chamber.
Figure 6 shows full top view including insulated handle,
internal heat dispersal unit and chamber.
To operate the device the user places or pours a quantity of solid fuel in the top of the cylinder. This is held in place by the internal heat dispersal unit ( figure 4 ) which prevents fuel falling through and will act as a heat disperser aver the largest possible area of fuel within the chamber.
A page of rolled up paper is then placed below the heat dispersal unit and after placing the device on a solid base this is then lit.
A second rolled up piece of paper may be required before the bottom layer of the solid fuel is sufficiently ignited so that when left to burn it lights the fuel above it.
When the fuel is lit to satisfaction the user, holding the insulated handle, pours the coals out onto the grate or other receptacle.
Claims (4)
1. A solid fuel lighter comprising of an ignition chamber, a
heat dispersal unit fitted centrally with an attached
insulated handle and heat absorbing shield.
2. A solid fuel lighter as clanked in clam 1 with an integral
heat dispersal unit.
3. A solid fuel lighter as claimed in claim 1 and claim 2 with
a heat insulated handle fitted externally.
4. A solid fuel lighter as claimed in claims 1,2 and 3 with a
heat protection shield fitted externally.
