Support(s) or stand(s) hold a "Grow Bag" in a 'vertical' arrangement for the subsequent growing of plants. The stands may be of unitary (block-moulding) or component construction and may include designs or fastenings for additional supports particularly for taller plants and may include designs or fastenings for cover/cloche extensions. <IMAGE>

Description

IMPROVED "GROW-BAG" UTILIZATION STAND(S) OR SUPPORT(S).
This invention relates to plastic sacks or bags containing any suitable substantially free-growing material(s) but particularly the invention relates to "Grow-Bags" containing growing material(s) used for the growing of plants such as for example tomatoes, peppers, aubergines, cucumbers, melons, courgettes, marrows, salad and flower plants. Such plants hitherto being planted in one or more openings made in the upward facing surface of the or each bag usually laid flat on the ground or other suitable planar surface, and, thereafter is difficult to move around, covers the ground to the flat area of the bag, is in contact with the ground (collecting debris, staining and attracting woodlice/worms/ etc. to the underside especially on a paved/patio surface) and in this 'lay-flat' mode only provides a shallow bed of growing material.
To overcome or mitigate the above drawbacks in the use of Grow-Bags" according to this invention, one or more block-mouldings (of any suitable size, shape and contour), made from any suitable material ( eg. wood, concrete, plastic, metal) of a solid or 'hollow' construction from one or more materials in a one-piece or component form, are provided to hold the "Grow-Bag" in a 'vertical' arrangement and clear of the ground/patio surface. Each block-moulding has a groove/channel/cavity, in which to hold the "Grow-Bag", preferably of an undercut/reverse taper/ "dovetail" shape particularly if the "Grow-Bag" is to be moved frequently as such as design will 'hold-on' to the bag if lifted. To each block-moulding a vertical or 'near vertical' support(s) (eg.cane, wooden batten, wire) may be attached (eg.through a 'vertical' hole, if provided in the block-moulding, screws/rivets/bolts or adhesives) to help secure taller plant varieties. To these vertical supports a variety of 'cross-members' may be used (eg. canes, battens, netting) and may also provide a framework for a protective glass or plastic cloche formation.
If a number of block-mouldings are used (usually 3 to each "Grow-Bag") they may stand independently or connected ( eg.
by battens or wires) especially if the "Grow-Bag" is to be moved frequently or the format of the growing plant is 'top-heavy' and is counter-acting the weight of the "Grow Bag" itself.

Claims (3)

1 An arrangement for the holding of a "Grow Bag(s)" in a 'vertical' position for the subsequent growing of any variety of plant.
2 An arrangement for the 'vertical' holding of the "Grow Bag(s)" as claimed in Claim 1 wherein a means of attachment or insertion of support(s) is possible to facilitate the the growing of taller varieties of plants.
3 An arrangement as claimed in any preceeding claim, whereby a 'cloche' or protective cover may be attached to the supporting frame or stand.
