Thermionic amplifiers and detectors.-In a receiving system for high or low frequency alternating current telegraphy or telephony, a wave-sensitive device or a relay is arranged to suppress auxiliary oscillations at the moment of their production. Fig. 2 shows a wireless-receiving circuit arranged so that, when the aerial circuit is set in oscillation, the resistance of the wave-sensitive device a is increased and allows relay r to operate, thus altering the tuning of the circuit e or affecting the current source of the regenerator so as to suppress the oscillations. In a modification, the relay is omitted and the changed resistance of the device a changes the tuning of the receiving circuit. In a further modification, Fig. 3, the relay r is arranged in the plate circuit of a thermionic valve and operates on excessive current flowing in that circuit.
