Abstract

A of set components from which a knee prosthesis may be constructed comprises a plurality of components, such as femural (1, 2, 3, 4), tibial and meniscal (11, 12, 13) components. Each of the components comprises at least one bearing surface for bearing engagement with a corresponding bearing surface of another component. All of the femural components have identical bone engaging surfaces (1b, 2b, 3b, 4b), but different sizes and/or shapes of bearing surfaces (1a, 2a, 3a, 4a). Thus, because the profile of all the bone engaging surfaces of the different femoral components is the same, the surgeon does not need to decide beforehand which size of prosthesis is required.
