Abstract

225,169. Schiele & Bruchsaler-Industriekonzern. Nov. 22, 1923, [Convention date]. Protective arrangements.-An enclosed lightning arrester with non- inductive resistance and magnetically extinguished spark is constructed with both electrodes carried by the same insulator. The earthed flange 12 of a casing 18 supports a tubular insulator 1 which contains a non-inductive resistance 6 of " silit " or the like. The protected upper end of the resistance 6 bears against a spring plate 5 on a cover 3 provided with a line terminal 4 and the protected lower end bears on a cupped disc 7 carrying an electrode 8. The other electrode 13 is carried by a brass member 14 bridging the poles 15 of the spark-extinguishing magnets 9 which are carried by a cast-iron ring 10 secured to the insulator 1. The ends of the magnet coils are connected to the magnets and to the flange 12 and are bridged by an adjustable sparkgap between the ring 10 and the flange 12. The Specification as open to inspection under- Sect. 91 (3) (a) comprises also the use of " osilit " for the resistance 6. This subject-matter does not appear in the Specification as accepted.
