Abstract

A cable connector comprises a cylindrical housing (10) for receiving therein a plastic ferrule (13), and a washer (14) fastened in a recess formed by a recessed end of the ferrule (13) and the end of the cylindrical housing. The flat outer end of the washer (13) aligns with the orifice of the cylindrical housing, and thereby prevents damage to the ferrule in use of the connector. <IMAGE>

Description

Title - CABLE CONNECTOR The present invention relates to a cable connector and more particularly to a cable connector with an improved mounting structure for easy connection of cables.
Conventional cable connectors generally consist of a cylindrical housing having received therein a plastic terminal ferrule for direct connection of cables. One disadvantage of this structure is that the orifice at the front connecting end of a cable connector may be damaged by notches. The front connecting end of a conventional cable connector is generally designed in archshaped configuration and in expanded size and so be damaged during correction.
According to the present invention there is provided a cable connector, comprising a hollow cylindrical housing having inserted therein a plastic ferrule with an end of the ferrule recessed within the housing, a washer being received within the recess, the flat outer end of the washer being aligned with the face of the cylindrical housing.
The invention will now be described further by way of example with reference to the accompanying drawings in which : Figure 1 is a perspective view of a cable connector embodying the present invention; and Figure 2 is a perspective fragmentary view thereof.
The drawings illustrate a cable connector which consists of a hollow cylindrical housing 10, a plastic ferrule 13 and a washer 14. The housing 10 is externally threaded at each end, the two ends being divided by a central hexagonal projection 11. The plastic ferrule 13 is inserted in the cylindrical housing 10 with its front end recessed within housing 10 to leave a space for the washer 14. Thus the flat outer end of the washer 14 aligns with the front of the cylindrical housing 10. By means of the aforesaid arrangement, cables can be connected smoothly and the percentage of defective product can be greatly reduced.

Claims (2)

1 A cable connector, comprising a hollow cylindrical housing having inserted therein a plastic ferrule with an end of the ferrule recessed within the housing, a washer being received within the recess, the flat outer end of the washer being aligned with the face of the cylindrical housing.
2 A cable connector substantially as herein described with reference to and as illustrated in the accompanying drawings.
