Abstract

223,039. Lavaud, D. S. de. Oct. 4, 1923. Variable - speed gearing comprises ratchet gearing 5 driven by a swash plate 3, the centre of which is displaced axially of and relatively to a driving-shaft 1 to vary the speed. The shaft 1 is shaped to engage the rotary hub 2 of the swash plate and through an axial slot 6 in the shaft passes a trunnion 8 at the centre of wobble. Constraint is applied to tilt the swash plate as it slides by a second trunnion 9 working in an inclined slot 7. The swash plate 3 is kept from rotating by a gimbal mounting G and automatic variation may be produced by yielding means Y acting through a thrust member T. Specification 220,640 is referred to.
