Abstract

A lighter in the form of a matchbox has a container 1 which is at least partially filled with a liquid fuel absorbent material 3. An aperture 11 is provided in a side of the container 1 for insertion therethrough of a match 2. The match has a gripping portion 2, a metal alloy scraper 21 and adjacent to a wick 22, the match having a screw thread which cooperates with a mating screw thread in the aperture 11 for securing the match into the matchbox. The matchbox 1 has a flint 12 on an external surface thereof. In use the wick 22 is in contact with the liquid fuel absorbent material 3 and in turn absorbs liquid fuel. When the scraper 21 is brought into moving contact with the flint 12, sparks are produced which ignite the wick 22. <IMAGE>

Description

PERMANENT MATCH BOX LIGHTER This invention relates to a permanent match box lighter.
Except the ancient method to bore wood to get fire, traditional procedures to get fire as what we know includes the use of match box, traditional lighters, and all kinds of electronic ignition method. Among said procedures, the use of match box was the most popular way to get a fire in previous times and is still popularly used at the present time. However, because the match rod is easy to break, the inflammable material is easy to drop or become not incombustible when it is wet, the conventional match box has been gradually replaced by regular lighter. Although regular lighter is more convenient in use, it provides no fun while in application. Actually while using a lighting device, the fun in use is also strongly required by the users. For lighting a cigarette as an example, if to add some new tricks to the lighting procedure it will be more funny and interesting. One of the most famous lighter in the world -- the Dupon lighter is widely accepted by consumers everywhere in the world because of its unique design to provide a light and fragile sound during application.
Still, there are various people who would like to use match to light up a cigarette because scraping a match and swing a burning match to extinguish the fire can provide much fun that could not be found in conventional lighter. Since the traditional match box has some drawbacks as previously described, a match box lighter of the present invention is thus created to provide a durable lighting rod which is practicable to get a fire by means of friction even if it is wet, of which the inflammable material is not easy to drop.
In general, the main object of the present invention is to provide a permanent match box lighter wherein the hollow casing of the lighter is stuffed with absorbent filled with liquid fuel to match with a flint and a permanent lighting rod to produce sparks by means of the friction of the lighting rod against the flint so as to light up the wick of the lighting rod for further application. Further, a retaining clamp is also provided with the lighter to facilitate the carriage of the lighter with the user.
An embodiment of the present invention will now be described by way of example with reference to the accompanying drawings in which: Figure 1 is a perspective structural view of the present invention.
Figure 2 is a sectional structural view of the present invention.
Figure 3 is a schematic drawing illustrating the application of the present invention.
Referring to the various drawings attached hereiwth, a detailed description of the structural features of a match box lighter of the present invention is as follows: In Figure 1, a permanent match box lighter is comprised of a casing 1 and a lighting rod 2. The said casing 1 which is a hollow body stuffed with sufficient absorbent 3 (for instance absorbent cotton, foam, etc.) filling with liquid fuel (as shown in Figure 1) comprises a side hole 11 for the said lighting rod 2 to set therein to let the wick 22 of the lighting rod 2 be imbued with the liquid fuel in the absorbent 3. A prolonged flint 12 is made on the top surface of the casing 1 while another retaining clamp 13 is made on the back side for hanging of the casing 1 on the belt for the convenience of carriage with oneself.
The said lighting rod 2 which is a solid hollow rod made of metal, to be set in the hole 11 by screw joint comprises a scraper 21 at the front end made of suitable metal alloy like tungsten carbide. The connecting portion between the scraper 21 and the lighting rod 2 is arranged to provide cotton fiber wick 22 to be imbued with the liquid fuel in the absorbent, such that the wick 22 may be burned by the sparks resulted from the scraping of the scraper 21 against the flint 12.
While in use, it is to draw out the lighting rod 2 from the casing 1 and to scrape the scraper 21 against the flint 12 (as illustrated in Figure 3) to produce sparks to further burn up the wick 22. Therefore, the burning wick, - like a burning match, becomes a lighting device for further application. Each time after use, it is necessary to swing the lighting rod 22 to extinguish the fire and to set the lighting rod 22 back in the hole 11 of the casing to let the wick 22 be imbued with liquid fuel once ain for further application.
In general, the present inventicn is to provide a lighting device using a lighting method similar to conventional match box, which provides a style and fun in lighting process similar to match box, wherein the use of lighting rod makes the structure more practical and more durable in use. The use of liquid fuel makes the operation more easy to burn. The use of retaining clamp makes the device more convenient to carry with oneself.
