Seed drills; hoes with adjustable tool frames adjusting and lifting parts; rollers, arrangement of; tools, mounting adjustably.-Hoes for hoeing on the flat or between ridges are adjustably con nected to the frame of an ordinary drill that may be provided with ridge rollers and means for hoe ing the sides of ridges, the hoes being carried by independent draw-bars pivotally connected to the drill frame. The drill frame shown comprises an axle frame 7 and a shaft frame 8 adjustable rela tively to one another by means of a lever. Ridge rollers 14 are mounted on a shaft or axle 15 carried bv the side members of the shaft frame 8. The lower ends of the side members may be forked to allow of easy removal of the shaft 15 For drilling a seed-box is mounted on the axle frame 7 and coulters are bolted to U-shaped bar: 16 that swing on the shaft 15 and are provided with handle-bars 17 the downward movement of which is limited by chains. For side hoeing the coulters are replaced by side-hoes 22. For hoeing between ridges, hoes 23 are mounted behind the position normally occupied by the coulters. They are carried by double bars 24 pivoted on pieces 26 adjustably connected to a cross-bar 25 by eyebolts 27 and nuts and washers. The downward movement of the bars 24 is limited by adjustable chains 30 fixed on the wheel axle and passing over a cross-bar 19, or over rollers or pulleys on it. These chains cause the bars 2'4 to move upwards relatively to the shaft frame 8 when the rear part of the latter is tilted upwards. The tines carrying the hoes 23 are pivoted between the two parts of the double bars 24 and are formed with a curved extension 32 which is adjustably clamped between the two parts by tightening bolts 33. The rollers 14 and side-hoes 22 may be removed and the bars 24 coupled together by a member 34 provided with steering handles. To allow of the hoes being steered, the nuts on the eye-bolts 27 may be slackened, or the bars 34 may be jointed near their forward ends. Additional hoes may be mounted on the coupling- member 34. The bars 24 may be secured in a raised position to allow of the implement being used for drilling. Specification 174,882 is referred to.
