Abstract
A supporting harness, eg a tubular frame 9 used to support a video hand held camera. The camera is releasably secured to the harness and can be lifted off for servicing. Adjustible brackets are provided at various points of the frame to allow different makes of video camera to be fitted. The harness is collapsible for ease of storage. <IMAGE>
Description
VIDEO CAMERA SUPPORTING HARNESS
This invention relates to a vidgo camera supporting harness.
To my knowledge there is at present a number of tripods of various styles to support a video camera with the express purpose of allowing the operator freedom from carrying for long periods and to keep a steady picture. This is perfectly good for straight forward filming, but an action film such as a game of football becomes very tireing and cunfbersome to carry the tripod and camera up and down the field. It is true that most cameras are designed for carrying in the hand with a support strap, when filming for a long period it becomes very tireing to the arms which courses a jerky camera resulting in a poor recording.
According to the present invention there is provided a vidto camera supporting harness comprising a tubular frame with several adjusting components. The harness is placed over the operators head and carried around the neck, thus it allows the operator complete relaxation of both arms at any time, plus the complete freedome to walk around useing the body to follow the action one may be filming with complete ease, B A specific emodiment of the invention will now be described by way of example with reference to the accompanying drawing in which;
Figure 1 shows in perspective, the complete carrying harness;
Figure 2 shows the angle adjusting arm;
Figure 3 shows the vertical adjusting arm and multi-angle adjusting clamp;
Figure 4 shows camera quick-release fixing plate;;
Figure 5 shows housing for camera fixing plate;
Figure 6 shows two way angle clamping bracket;
Figure 7 shows quick-release clamping mechanism.
Referring to the drawing the video camera support harness comprises a shaped tubular frame 9 and a sliding bracket 14 which is attached to a horizontal support 8 figure 1. As shown in figure 2 the angle adjusting arm 7 has a duel perpose, in so much that it gives back and forward adjustment from thetoperators body and a left or right adstment, all of this is achieved by the quick-release clamp 11 which are attached to the two way angle bracket 14 figure 6. As shown in figure 3 vertical adjustment is achieved by arm 16 which slides up and down in angle adJusting arm 7 figure 2 and clamped in position by quick-release clamp 11.A multi-angle adstnent for the vidio camera is achieved by the double ball and socket clamp 17 as shown in figure 3. The tention on the clamp 17 is achieved by a thumb screw 15. The vidio camera is attached to the support harness by means of quick-release plate 19 figure 4. This is screwed to the camera with a standard 'in. whitworth screw 24 and locking pin 25.
Fixing plate 19 is set into quick-release housing 21 figure 5 and turned 1800 degrees, The camera fixing plate 19 is kept under tension by a leaf spring 20 and locked in position by a tongue and groove 23 figure 5. To release fixing 19 from housing 21, pressure is placed 0 on leaf spring 23 and fixing plate 19 turned 180 degrees. Housing plate 21 is screwed to plate 18 figure 3. The quick-release bracket 11 figure 7 has a thumb lever 10 and a tension bolt and nut 12, the tension adjustment is made by tightening or slackening the nut 12.
To create the tension on the bracket 11, the thumb lever 10 has a pivot screw 13 which is set off centi when the lever 10 is pressed down it draws the tongues on the bracket 11 figure 7 together creating a pinch action. The video camera harness is covered with soft foam rubber to cushy the base of the neck and sholders 22 figure 1.
Claims (1)
1 A video camera supporting harness comprising a tubular light weight frame which has been designed to give complete mobilty and stability for the camera duringrfilming, adjustment facility for a majority of video hand held cameras, camera quick-release mechanism for ease of tape and battery changing, plus the minimum tiredness while operating the camera.
2 A video camera supporting harness as claimed in claim 1 wherein a tubular frame is placed around the neck to carry a video camera 5 A video camera supporting harness as claimed in claim 1 or claim 2, wherein the user has complete mobility while filming.
4 A video camera supporting harness as claimed in claim 2 or claim 3 wherein the operators body is used to form varied movements Xhilet still having stability with the camera.
5 A vidEo camera supporting harness as claimed in claim 4 wherein the operators body is in an upright position withfreedom of arms and leg movement minimising tiredness.
6 A video camera supporting harness as claimed in ang preceding claim wherein the support harness is disigned with a number of adjustments for the fitting of a majority of cameras.
7 A video camera supporting harness as claimed in claim 6 wherein the harness is provided with a quick-release mechanism for demountthe vidQ'o camera, A A video camera supporting harness as described herein with reference to Figures 1-7 of the accompanying drawing.
