Description
n r) 22 17 3 0 1 Box with Press Member Lock The invention relates to a box
for accommodating cosmetic articles according to the preamble of claim 1.
Such boxes are used in particular for packing cosmetic articles, such as eye shadow, powder and the like.
in a known box of this type the lock press member is arranged pivotally on the bottcirt member of the box or case and is pivoted for opening said box, an upper edge of the lock press member of the cover member lifting off the bottom member. The pivotal lock press member is made separately from the bottom member.
A further makeup box of the aforementioned type is known in which the lock press member is made in one piece with an internal-insert insertable into the bottom member of the box. The lock press Tpember is formed integrally with the. projection behind which the lock nose secured to the cover member engages.
The invention is based on the problem of further developing a box of the type according to the preamble in such a manner that with economic production a high functional reliability and stability are ensured.
According to the invention this problem is solved in that the lock press member and the lock nose are in engagement with each other via at least one inclined surfa ce.
- I- A particularly simple production of the box with injection moulding technology results if the lock press member is formed integrally with the bottom member.
A reliable opening of the box with simultaneous raising of the cover or lid is achieved in a preferred further development of the invention in that the lock press member and the lock nose each have an inclined surface which forms with the bottom plane an angle of about 450 and slide on each other when the box is opened and closed.
Usua'Lly, in the boxes according to the preamble the articulation of the cover to the bottom member or also to a centre member connected to It-he bottom member is by means of a hinge. To protect the hinge from disturbances due to soiling and to conceal the hinge invisibly for the user and improve the esthetic impression of the box, in a further preferred development of the invention on the side of the box opposite the lock at the hollow edge two openings are formed in the centre part into which two tabs engage which are formed on the cover member and which are articulately connected to the bottom member or centre member.
The box according to the invention can be formed altogether from only three parts in simple and economic manner by injection moulding. The three parts may be assembled in formlocking manner to give the finished box without any adhering or welding being absolutely necessary.
The necessary elastic displaceability of the lock press member is achieved if the bottom member and the lock press member preferably integrally formed therewith are made from polypropylene or ABS.
1 - a - Hereinafter an example of embodiment of the invention will be explained in detail with the aid of the drawings, wherein:
Fig. 1 is a section through the lock-of the box according to the invention; Fig. 2 is a section through the hinge of the box according to the invention; Fig. 3 is a plan view of the centre member of the box; Fig. 4 is a side view of the centre member according to Fig. 3, a partial section along the line I-I being shown; Fig. 5 is a plan view of the cover, and Fig. 6 is a side view of the cover, a partial section being made along the line II-jj.
In tbe drawing Figs. 3 to 6 correspond to a scale 1:1 of the box whilst Figs. 1 and 2 are to a 5-times greater scale than Figs. 3 to 6 to make the details clearer.
Fig. 1 shows the lock of the box in the closed state. The box consists of three parts: a bottom member 10, a centre member 12 and a cover member 14. All three parts can be made in simple manner by injection moulding technology. In particular the bottom member is made from a flexible material such as polypropylene or ABS (acrylonitrile-butadiene styrene copolymer).
A lock nose 16 is integrally formed with the cover 14 as shown in Fig. 1. The lock nose 16 has an outwardly directed bulge 16'.
- Lf- - A lock press member 18 is integrally formed with the bottom member 10. The lock press member 18 is connected via a tapered web.181 to the bottom member 10 so that due to the elasticity of the material the lock press member 18 is elastically displaceable in the direction of the arrow P with 1 respect to the remaining parts of the box. The web 18' of the lock press member is substantially perpendicular to the bottom plane.
The centre member 12 of the box forms the actual receiving compartment 20 in which a cosmetic article such as powder or the like can be kept.
Fig. 3 shows a plan view of the centre member 12. It is clear therefrom, and also from the side view according to Fig. 4, including the section along I-I, that the centre member forms a hollow edge 44 running round the edge of the box (cf. especially Fig. 4). This hollow edge 44 is closed from below by the bottom member 10 whilst being otherwise formed by a projection at the edge of the centre member 12.
Except for openings in the region of the lock (Fig. 1) and the articulation of the cover (Fig. 2) the hollow edge 44 is closed.
According to Fig. 1 in the encircling hollow edge 44 in the region of the lock (lock nose 16, lock press member 18) two openings 22, 24 are provided. The first opening 22 opens the interior of the hollow edge 44 in the direction of the normal to the major plane 30 of the bottom member 10. Through the first opening 22 the lock nose 16 of the cover 14 can penetrate into the interior of the hollow edge 44. The bulge 16' of the lock nose 16 then pushes itself resiliently behind a projection 36 of the hollow edge 44. In this manner the box is held in force-locking manner in the closed state.
z it A second opening 24 opens the interior of the cavity in a direction perpendicular to the normal to the major plane 30 of the bottom member 10. The lock press member 18 projects with the web 18' from the bottom member 10 through the interior of the hollow edge 44 and extends through the opening 24 out of the side wall of the box outwardly.
In accordance with Fiqs. 1 and 2 the bottom member and the centre member 1.2 are connected in force-locking and simple manner to each other. For this purpose in accordance with Figs. 1 and 2 at the bottom member 10 and at the centre rner,,iber in the reglon of the edge of the box respective encircling projections 26 and 28 are provided which engage behind each other. The wall. of the centre member 12 is elastic enough to be pushed over the edge 28 of the bottom member 10 so that a detent engagement takes place between the bottom and centre members.
As shown in Fig. 1 both the lock nose 16 and the lock press member 18 have an inclined surface 32 and 34 respectively. The tWO inclined surfaces each form an angle of 45' with the major plane 30 of the bottom member 10.
Figs. 5 and 6 show the cover member 14 as a whole. Formed integrally with the cover member 14, apart from the lock nose 16, are two tabs 40, 40' which form part of the hinge for articulate connection of the cover member (cf. also Fig. 2).
The tabs 40, 40' according to Fig. 6 engage in openings 46, 46' in the centre member 12 of Fig. 3. The hinge is thus largely concealed in the interior of the encircling hollow edge 44. The hinge is otherwise completed by two support walls 42 (in Fig. 2 one support wall is shown). In the example of embodiment illustrated the support walls are formed integrally with the bottom member 10 and positioned directly adjacent the two openings 46, 46' according to Fig. 3. Short stumps 50, 501 (Fig. 3) are formed integrally with the short walls 42, 42' and fit into complementary holes 48, 481 in the tabs 40, 401.
On assembly of the box consisting only of the three described parts, bottom member 10, centre member 12 and cover member 14, firstly the centre member 12 is pushed over the projection 28 of the bottom member 10 running round the edge so that the encircling projection 26 of the centre member 12 engages behind the projection 28 of the bottom member 10. The two tabs 40, 40' of the cover member 14 are then pushed into the openings 46, 46' in the centre member 12 so that the stumps 50, 50' at the support walls 42, 421 engage into the. holes 48, 48' in the tabs 40 and 40'.
To open the box the user presses the lock press member 18 in the direction of the arrow P, the lock nose 16 simultaneously coming free of the detent engagement behind the projection 36 and due to the interengaging inclined surfaces 32, 34 moving upwardly together with the cover member 14. The cover member 14 is thus swung upwardly a certain amount so that the user can easily grip and open it completely.
